Help K&N Intake Install....piece unknown 2013 Camaro

Hey everyone. I just got my K&N air intake delivered part #63-3074. I pretty much know how to install. I had a 2011 and did a CAI install myself. Now I have a 2013 SS. Anyways I was looking at my stock intake and the bolt on the right side of intake has this grey piece attached to it, holding a wire that's attached to the side of the metal.I have never seen this before on my previous 2011. What is it and how do I remove it so I can get the stock intake off? Please help, I don't want to damage anything. Here's a picture of what it looks like. Thanks in advance.

Look on the sides of it to see if it has any sort of "teeth" or clip design where you have to use a flat tip screwdriver to separate it. Other than that, try twisting and pulling, but be careful.

It's just a wire retainer. You can slip something slotted under it and it should pry/pop off. I'm not familure with the K&N intake, but after you mount it, if the stud is still accessible, just push the retainer back on the stud. If not, your not going to hurt anything by leaving it off. I'm not sure what the wire is for, but it might be the hood release cable.
