window cover

Does anyone know where I can find a window cover something similar for the shape of the Camaro window to fill it in entirely?

It's a cool idea, but 5%-15% tint does a great job for keeping prying eyes and sunlight out.

Tint laws right? I happened to come across a waiver in FL. Had my Doc sign off on it because I have chronic migraines. 35% on the front and 20% everywhere else. Sadly still not as dark as I wanted it.

Not sure what part of the state you are in but there is little to no enforcement in my area, 40 miles north of Tampa. Windshield...yes you will get pulled for that without a waiver, unless you go with a very light tint that is undetectable. But 5% on all other windows is fairly common. 20% or lower is an absolute necessity down here, imo. But I know what you mean. I have 20% in my Cruze and it's really not enough. I think 5% in a 5th gen is risky. For pedestrians, mailboxes, and anything behind you lol. But I will do it eventually.

I remember back in 1994 I got pulled over by FHP in my 1980 Monte Carlo. I had the windshield tinted in limo tint top and bottom with a little 4 inch sliver untinted, like a tank. He made me pull it off right there on the side of the road. It's the State Troopers you have to be careful to avoid.

I went a few months back after I got the waiver to have the tint redone. I agree if I would have went below 20% on the sides Id have an issue backing out of the garage on a rainy night. Hard to see with the 20% with limited lighting back there. If I ever have it redone again, I think Ill go 5% on the rear and maybe 15% on the sides. Its too hot here without tint. I live in the panhandle. We have many days that hit triple digits.

Have you considered the clear ceramic "tint" films that are available? They cut the radiant heat load to the interior without impacting visibility. It works well for me here in Central Texas (Ft Hood area). I would have given anything to have used it when in Florida.

IT's been years since I lived in Florida and endured the heat of the sun; in '83 I had my GTI tinted with the darkest tint I could get--don't remember the percentage, if I even knew. It kept some of the heat out, but not as effective as the ceramics I have used since. It made it difficult to see to the rear or sides at night. Military--and stationed in California several years later; CHP would give me all kinds of grief until they saw the Florida plates and registration. I finally peeled it from the driver and passenger door windows for my own ease of seeing.

I got 35% done here in Bama. Been by a few LEO's, not a word. I'll admit though since the top is down more than it is up its prolly a "luck" thing. Most of the time though with the windows up I dont even get a hard look.

35% is legal in Alabama for side and rear windows. The requirement is at least 32% allowable light transmission with a 3% tolerance.

I've had tint put on twice and both times I asked for the darkest allowable by law on the back and something lighter on the door windows for night time visibility's sake.

My Camaro came with super dark tint all the way around but I've got used to it. I do very little driving at night any more.

50% side and 35% rear, here in WI. Side and rear @ 25%. Very rarely anywhere at dark with this ride and usually with side windows down. Haven’t had any issues, to date.
The installer and I both agreed that “ now it looks like it’s supposed to.

And there is the reason. When I got it done the tinter said 15% but when I looked at a car with 15%, dirty windows would be darker.
