ZL1 ran great with some Porsche GT4's and a McLaren 720s

My wife and I just got back yesterday from a 1,600 mile trip up through the Ozark Mountains with our car group. Some of the other vehicles with us were two 2016 Porsche GT4's, a 2017 McLaren 720s, 2017 ECS supercharged Grand Sport, 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR convertible, 2015 Porsche Turbo S, and a whole host of other Porsches.

We ran pretty hard and I can tell you that the big girl ZL1 raised a few eyebrows! I had several people in our group come up to me and ask "this is a CAMARO??!???" after a few runs lol! They were just astounded.

I will post a video below but just be aware that the camera with our factory PDR is.... well, lacking. I have several other angle from GoPro's (Hero6, Hero Sessions 5, and Hero4 Silver) all of which blow the factory camera out of the water. I will post some more videos, but I am new to the editing thing so trying to learn.

A few notes. That McLaren 720s is just bad... freaking AMAZING car! But needs fuel... often! A woman in our group was driving it and yes, it is her car. She passed through 10,000 miles on this trip and she can drive it, had a 570s prior. Those Porsche GT4's are super nimble, as good as our ZL1's are, They are still relatively heavy. I compared my ZL1 to being Lindsey Vonn and those to being McKayla Maroney. Both athletic, but go about what they do in a completely different manner. The Jar F-Type SVR was also pretty rapid, I didn't know they were awd but it makes sense the way that car could accelerate out of a corner. The Turbo S... well is a Turbo S. Probably the most well rounded sports car I can think of, it was a monster too.

I left the nannies on for the whole drive and will say that the PTM on these things is amazing. When it did step in it was seem less, the only way I knew it was there most of the time was when I went back and watched the video where I had the overlay on and could see the traction control light up. Night and day difference from systems even 5-6 years ago.

Anyway, here is the video. Starts out kind of slow and we had to slow down once passenger in black GT4 became motion sick. It was a LOT of fun though! Now I need new tires!!

Pretty ballsy driving those roads that fast. I'm amazed you didn't come up behind some old farmer driving about 25mph. Nice ride along.... I grew up back there.

We did a few times, most of them were very polite and would pull over and wave. If we had to slow down we did, the roads were scouted before hand to find the ones that had the fewest houses/business' on them to avoid traffic merging onto the roads. If we had to wait for passing zones we did, there are plenty of great roads to go through if there was traffic and we avoided main routes. Lucky guy growing up with those roads!

I lived in SWMO for 15 years and I grew up learning to drive on those roads. What road were you on there in the video?

Good fun!

Also looks like your mods and tune are working well. All that hard work paying off.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, they are so far. Only issue right now is that it's rich right now on 93. Looks like a couple of J79's spooling up on an F-4 Phantom every time I accelerate. It is going it for meth later this week or early next and I'll ask them to run it on straight 93 to check. But it ran great, power was not an issue!

Hwy 125 is like the Holy Grail in SWMO. I used to run that between Sparta and the ferry crossing back in the day all the time.

Good video. The best part was watching your wife's hair go sideways and her reaction.... :-) Was the back ground noise from a fan?

You are not joking when you say the 720s is bad.

You shouldnt have any problem running with that group. I did a Cars and Coffee run with some friends. In the Group was a Merced Gullwing, 458 Ferrari, The new Viper, and an RSGT3 Porshe. From a 40 Mph roll only the viper could hang. The rest of the day they all spent chasing me down the hwy. At lunch all they could talk about was how they couldnt catch the ZL1. After lunch we started swaping cars and driving each others. I will say my favorite was the 458 Italia. Even over my ZL1. Something about that ferrari sound. Ill have one soon.

I had to tape a business card on top of the gopro sessions. The sun kept glaring it out so had to make a glareshield. I know, it drove me nuts Too!

And you should see her expression on some of the other videos! Lol
