I need some help/advice.

Hi everyone and thanks for reading this. I just had my half shaft disconnect from my diff because of bolts that weren't secured well enough after my diff was replaced. I had it towed to nearby dealer because that is where the tow company said they would only tow to the nearest dealer. That dealer is now refusing to honor the repairs as warranty because a different dealer swapped my original diff when I was dealing with the rear end rubbing noise. my car is not yet two years old with 30,000 miles on it. Plus I do have an extended warranty giving me 100,000 miles on everything because i drive a far bit. Is there any reason that this would not be covered under warranty since it was a Chevy dealer that did the job initially?

Mods, I understand if this is deleted for the wrong sub.

This car needs to go back to the dealer that made the mistake.Chevy (and any mfr) does not warranty mistakes made by the dealer. They warranty product deficiencies and parts failure.

Make sure the dealer pays for the tow. Their ****-up, their cost.

Hopefully the dealer that did the install isn't far away, regardless they need to fix it and ask them to pay for the tow, besides you should be covered for the tow anyway under the warranty along with a rental car if they need it over night. Yep this sux, just get it fixed asap...good luck!

Call the other dealer and ask them to go pick it up.

Wait - did he say that the dealer put in the WRONG dif? I thought he just meant that the dif had been replaced under warranty. If it was just replaced under warranty, why wouldnt it be covered at any dealer?

Chevy is not responsible for their locations, they are independent businessmen. A terrible biz situation , but it is what it is. Pray that Elon Musk et. al. will change this......Chevy will possibly help you get it interview at the place that did it but they won’t take any part of the responsibility to fix this. This is a tech that screwed up at a dealership by not seeing the bolts tightened up. Therefore it is the responsibility of the offending dealer to take care of it.

Ahh, I missed where they didnt tighten the bolts. Was thinking the bolts issue was the issue there is a TSB on. That said, how do they know that the issues isnt related to the TSB and the bolts backing out? Isnt that happening because of the length of the bolts? If the dealer put the original bolts back in wouldnt that issue still possibly exist?
