the lights are $1200 for a set, but the ecm I believe has to be reprogammed or changed, Doubt they will do it though

Waste. The dealer will tell you "No" because the wiring harness is different. Just get some HIDs and if you are set on Halos, Oracle offers a few different types. Eagle Eye sells an assembly that is similar to the factory halos, but I had a 2lt/rs before, and I opted out this time. i think the non RS lights look better. I just added HIDs. To each their own, but those are your options.

I think the non-RS looks better as well. Wanted the HID projectors though so I had a retrofit done. If you use your own headlights you can get away with about $450.

mpate16, I would suggest talking with your dealer before getting the car (unless you've already go it) and see if they would be willing to do the work for you. They should also be able to give you a quote on the work at that time as well. I hope that helps you.

There is a service bulletin instructing dealers not offer retrofitting. Just an FYI.

I spoke to the parts guy while I was getting my oil changed yesterday, he took the time to research it for me (EXCELLENT dealership in Alpharetta Ga) looking up part numbers, harness prices etc, and we determined it would cost around $2300.00 for the whole deal, GM parts and install. Think I'll keep my headlights as they are...

If you find a set of RS headlights you can change them out yourself all you need is a aftermarket harness that is plug and play.

If i end up getting a RS you can have mine - i don't like the bmw headlights :(

Wonder if dealer would swap them out for regular lights???

Dont get aftermarket HID. Do what caverman suggested and do a retro. Its much better than PnP kit and about the same price plus you can customize them how you like them. Get better than OEM lighting with a retrofit.

I also went the retrofit route (thanks to Caverman) with added colorshift halo's from AAC. very clean self install, very nice parts and work by TRS ( theretrofitsource.com ) Caverman was awesome and helped me walk through the process and has posted detailed steps to install with pictures.
