Octane Booster

Hi All, only Premium available here in my area of Az. is 91 octane, This is the minimum Chevrolet recamends for our ZL1s and I think SS , I want to at least take to 92 to 93 . 2oz. makes 1 gallon of 91 octane to 95 octane , 1 oz = a little over 92 octane . I know the ECU will adjust to accommodate the minimum, but didn't want to be up on the knock sensor or sensor's.Ive been doing some research in the different brands of Octane Booster , VP, 104 plus , Turco, Lucas, ect , I am leaning towards this product . I did purchase a 16 oz can to try, Has this product been used by any of you ?, or post what you have experience using. Thank you

I've been using VP Octanium the unleaded version. Autozone stocks it. I treat a full tank of 93 and have completely eliminated the knock I was seeing. It did turn the plugs orange but the car runs well.

Used Torco for years on a high boost turbo motor. Turns your plugs orange. Works well.

Same here, I used this exact Race Gas product (32 oz bottle) for drag racing in the summer heat back when the car didn't have flex fuel capability, and it worked fine, eliminated all knock.

Orange residue is a side effect, but I didn't run the booster long enough or frequently enough to cause harm, whether or not it's actually as harmful as claimed by many.

Boostane is commonly used by the boosted Mystang crowd
I used it as a precaution also

Sometimes you just don't know if the gas is going to be up to par

I bought 3 big bottles of Boostane off Amazon
Use about 1/4 a bottle every fill up
Daily driving it adds up

I’ve used Boostane in the past with good results too. No complaints here.

I use Torco, no issues here, they all basically do the same thing.

I prefer the one use bottles to save me mixing stuff but I've only needed it a few times, carry a few bottles in the trunk if I have to get a tank of 91 for an unplanned need.

I've used that same Racegas to a full tank of 91 and had great luck.

I'm trying Boostane, to which many swear by, too, and add about 2.5oz per full tank, and it seems to be doing about the same as the Racegas.

I've been using that product since tank # 1 with 8,000 miles with no ill effects. I find the 2 sizes that it's available in to be extremely convenient. The small size for a half tank and the big size for a full tank. I order mine from Summit.

All the octane boosters will foul or build up orange crud on spark plugs. If you can afford it and it’s available in your area, blending actual race gasoline with pump gas will be your best bet. That’s what I do. During summer I’ll blend 1 gal of 100 octane unleaded with about 5-6 gals of 91, since that’s all that’s available here. That gets it to about 92.5 octane. If it’s really hot or I know I’m going to do some pulls I’ll throw in an extra 1/2 gal of 100 octane. During winter the cold temps don’t require as much octane so I’ll use 1 gal of 100 octane to 8-9 gals of 91. It’s not cheap, and is sort of annoying if there’s no 100 at a pump. I use Sunoco 260GT, have to buy 5 gallon pails, and transfer 1 gallon at a time via a gas can. $17/ gal right now. Labor of love.

Thanks guys, I used 104+ way back 1979 when I first started Drag racing, turned plugs yellow , and had to change often(don't know if changing was an effect of booster) then started using Race gas as future motors had more compression. I don't want to mess with plugs on the Camaro. I kinda figured all booster will discolor the plugs , and maybe deteriorate the plugs . Cooler weather in the Desert now til next March / April I have time to figure out what I want to use .
My question to the user's of Boostane, does it discolor the plugs and any
noticable deterioration to them.

Just pulled my plugs to check them out since using the VP Octanuim through two tanks. They were completely orange as people say. Through TWO TANKS of gas.
