Distilled ice cubes
Two questions about adding ice to the heat exchanger reservoir;
How much ice do you melt during a typical track outing? Have you ever made distilled ice cubes to minimize corrosion/scale in the heat exchanger system? |

Or use clear ice from a clear ice maker, that is distiller water when clear ice is made. When ice freezes on a cold plate the impurities do not freez in the ice.

Distilled will cause more corrosion then filtered water.

How so? DI water is pure H2O.

Isn't the intercooler heat exchanger system plastic and rubber tubing though? And wouldn't filtered cause more corrosion because it has other things in the water?

Each their own really. Back in my 03 cobra days it seemed more people had their heat exchanger leak with distilled water. More then like either will do just fine, but i will always use filtered water.

So you're adding liquid to the system, what happens when it gets full. I mean obviously you drain some out? And what is normally in there, antifreeze or just water, so once it's just water hadn't you better watch yourself if it gets cold out? Serious questions, cause I really don't know.

I watch the ice fans at the track and I laugh. no messy melty bag of ice is going to keep you cool like an rx chiller.
