The only scientific temperature scale is that of Lord Kelvin, but nobody wants to use that because "honey, today's really chilly at 271.5 degrees" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it. The whole thing is like the esperanto language, perfectly synthesized to be logical with few grammar rules and no exceptions, except that one never took off, maybe because it's so ugly nobody wants to claim it (but jokes aside, it's a language, the concept of which much deeper entrenched in people's intellect than a system of measurement, so again nobody wants to trade their real mother tongue for that, however "reasonable" and "logical" the choice might seem). (I'm from Europe originally btw and grew up with the metric system, just saying.)
