It has potential, at least it looks like a possible new design.

The concepts always look curvy like that - then the actual car comes out and it looks much more "normal". I'll wait to see some spy photos before getting too excited.

Without all the exaggerations that could be a winner.

Well, since you asked why not ... here are a few reasons:
  • roof is too low;
  • 'stuck in a bunker' feel of the 5th Gen would get even worse
  • doors may not be able to open
  • absolutely no suspension travel without having the fenders cut into the tires
  • front tires may not be able to turn for the same reason
  • mirrors are too small
  • trunk and/or 2nd row of seating appears to be non-existent
  • tires are far too thin, wheels will be easily damaged by bumps in the road (made even worse with 0 possible suspension travel)
  • does not look like there is any curb protection offered by tire sidewall
  • with the rear wheels so far back (coupled with a fairly long nose), it will be difficult to get decent weight distribution
  • extremely radical departure from other alpha-based cars, would likely requiring substantial re-engineering of the chassis to accommodate

That reminds me, don't ask rhetorical questions on an internet forum ... you never know when someone will answer it honestly.

I am sorry but this is a schematic concept not a production concept so I feel your comments are misplaced. Almost all schematic concepts start at this point with exaggerated features and then the designers begin to refine the design to something functional. If we were to search back we could probably find those same comments for the 2006 Camaro concept which actually was a production concept.

Misplaced....really? I thought the comment of the "re-engineering of the chassis" is a pretty significant reason for this design not to work.

That design would work for a two-seater but it's not really proportioned right to have a back seat. Not bad looking, however.

To be honest, it looks like a gen 5 Camaro that melted a little and lost its form. And I don't think the Camaro will ever be so curvy like that picture. That said, I think it looks okay.

What, re engineer the alpha chassis? It is a concept, you can say these comments for just about every concept car out there because the point of concepts is not to deal with these issues. This concept can easily be modified to work on the alpha chasis but the point of the concept isnt to be that realistic at this point. The first step of a design is exagerated to get a feel for the character and design direction, then it gets worked out to meet realistic form. I feel those comments are better suited for a pre production design. Then the concept evolves into the production version to address the obvious design flare and bring into realty for production. If this was designed as a ready to buy off the lot desinpgn then i agree but it is far far from that.

Just look at any designer, whether a fashion designer, architect, or car designer they all start with rough sketches that might not be realistic and then refine and try different things until it is funtional. This is rough concept. Check out this link for design insight, that sketch on the first page that has e same issues as the concept here was refined and built....https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/usa/d...hmentId=185249
