hell no it won't lol

seriously though, I can't picture that happening with larger motors coming out all the time.

I wouldn't be surprised if they make some sort of electric Camaro by 2025. Look at the performance Tesla is getting out of those electric motors only a matter of time before that technology trickles down.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would buy a 4-cyl camaro because of the weight/performance ratio at that level.

Dodge doesn't even sell a manual v6 Challenger because there's no demand at that level... I can only imagine a 4-cyl

yup. I am all about the V8. Love the sound and power. But from what I have read these guys are trying to trim the fat and get the Camaro to be exactly what you described. Which is exactly what the Gen1s were aimed at for the time.

I am not thrilled about it, but that combination can be super-potent and it looks like GM is taking that direction in general.

i want to ad something,

I live in the Netherlands (Europe) and every new car here gets a sort of tax from the government (is included with the pricetag by the dealer).
The sort of tax is calculated based on the level of polution (i don't know the right word) coming out of the exhaust.

The 2013 SS Camaro is a heavy car (with lots of polution, and the full economy compared to others is not so good), so this car is almost impossible to buy here, the price is almost 4 times as expensive as in the USA.

1 euro is about 1,3 US dollar, so you can do the math

If the new Camaro in 2016 is much lighter and cleaner, the possible tax will me less, so we can afford one.
The new Mustang (coming in 2014), the rumors are, he will be much lighter, shorter, and cleaner, and specially for Europe (i think) with a 4 banger.

Don't get me wrong, i have a 3.8V6 Camaro for almost 6 years now, and i have had a 71 Camaro with a 350V8 for 7 years.
but i like to have a newer Camaro in the future, so i am glad the new Camaro will become smaller/lighter and hopely with a smaller 6 cilinder or 4, or a cleaner V8

why would anyone not want a V10 camaro? You always move forward not step back. Keep the Camaro V8 , V10 and maybe twin turbo V6 (like the GTR).

Great. See? The guy from the Netherlands wants the Camaro to be a 4 banger smart car euro version of itself. Certainly no longer a muscle car and maybe not even a pony car.

When you pay € 1,70 for a liter of fuel (current price in Europe, like Holland, Germany, Belgium, France) , that's about 8,35 dollar for a USgallon, you would like a 4 banger too !!

But what's wrong with 4 and a 6 cilinder (to sell a lot of this car) and a top V8 or turbo V6 ?

I was mostly teasing you bro, I've been stationed in Europe before and I know how small your streets are

You guys drive a lot of small cars and hatchbacks is all I'm saying. 4 cylinder Camaro hatchback will ruin the muscle car nature of this car. Like making a $10,000 economy plastic interior 4 cylinder hybrid would not be a Mercedes AMG.

The Camaro don't need to become a small car or an ugly hatchback, it just needs to get a bit shorter and lighter,

i agree with, a muscle car like the Camaro needs a fast engine, but the new engines are getting better and better,

If you take the LS1 out of the 4th generation, compare it with the new 3.6V6, they have almost the same horsepower.

The 2.0L turbo engine of new Cadillac ATS gets 275 horsepower, in 2016 GM should get way over 300 horsepower out of it, so in my opinion it may be a good entry level engine, with a good fuel economy
And top of the line could still be a V8, or a turbo V6,

a 4 cilinder in a Camaro is not new, in 1982 till 1985 they had a 4 banger too, it may not the best engine, i don't know, i have never driven one.

It was not the best engine Camaro friend. It was Dooky. (You guys see what I did there?)
