My A8 started the shuddering last week at 16,000 miles. I found this thread, took the car into the dealer's Service dept on Friday and told them about the TSB for this issue. they have booked the car in for the triple flush per the TSB tomorrow. Hoping it fixes the issue without having to change the TC. I already had the groaning diff replaced last year, and the transmission cooler pipework recall earlier this year.

I just found my 50th is doing the same thing, just turned 5,600 miles yesterday. :( Guess this warrants a trip to the dealer.

update.....
Took my car to dealer.. he took it out for 10 min.. came back and said Torque Conveter.. so now I'm in a loaner until they replace it. Quick question if anybody knows: If they are replacing the TC's in these cars.. what part # are they replacing them with.. or are they just putting the same part back in..?? Meaning it might start acting up again.. Hope not.. |

My understanding is that it is Part #24280631 TC, and that that's the third version of the TC that GM has had on the LT1 and the latest, the other prior 2 version required immediate replacement at shudder, but the newest version required triple flush first (based on my research/understanding...would love for GM to chime in...)

It fixed mine for about 5000 miles then came back. The A8 is great but they screwed this up royally design wise.

Mine is currently in the shop getting getting the torque converter replaced. I took it in and they diagnosed it immediately without any info from me. Should get it back this week

The issue can be tuned out. GM will not do it because it will affect mpg rating so, we're on our own.
