True, true.

Has the camaro exceeded the theft rate of V8 chargers and challengers? Because I think this is maybe similar to what the mopar folks have been dealing with a for a while now.

More to this story as the Camaro shares an electrical system with a lot of FSTs and Cadillacs. So equally easy to steal. But not (apparently) being stolen at the same rate as Camaro.

Corvette has GMs latest electrical hardware, and blazer EV and Colorado/canyon are on stop sale for being the first to have UltiFi, which GM effed up. GM woke up one day and realized it is now a software company and wasn’t staffed up for that. Learning fast.

Nothing like Camaro testimonial that ODBII port lock prevented thief for this person. Undoubtedly criminals will carry some needle noses or even key spare key. It worked a step in protection though.

Prevented Car theft

My Camaro was just broken into and they tried to access my obd port but this obd lock saved my vehicle and prevented them from taking it. I 100% recommend, it works and it just saved me from losing an 80k car!!! Super easy to install and did what it was supposed to do when needed, best investment ever!!

Thanks much for the review fellow Camaro owner!

Cadillac Blackwing, Escalade V and C7 Corvette theft is up too. It's just that the Cadillac's are a lot more rare.

I've seen thieves ask for locations of all of those on instagram. They offer to pay $500-$1k per location.

No, 90% of theft has the driver window smashed, which means they're using the OBD port. No need to smash the window if they have a key fob relay.

The Camaro rotates the key fob encryption every time, so you can't just capture the key fob signal.

No, people have had their car stolen while the key is in a faraday pouch. The driver side window being on national back order should also tell you that pretty much every theft is being done via OBD port.

LAPD based that comment on a single person they've caught. They're not catching the ones with OBD port theft because it takes only a few minutes without needing to be near a fob.

The Camaro key code rotates every time. The only time a flipper would work is if you're actively pressing the key fob button while they're intercepting it. That's not happening at 2am when these are being stolen.

This thread is about Camaro theft (in CA), not general vehicle theft, and the astounding 1100% increase thereof, not absolute levels, indicating a very serious short term negative trend. The statistics you linked to are not relevant in this context.
