I know I have a lot to learn about the automatic key fob.....My Dad's car has this, but I have never been around his car enough to learn how it works completely....and the Camaro could be a little different too.

Maybe it locks automatically but if you hit unlock it stays unlocked? I can't speak from experience, I've never dealt with a car with automatic locking / unlocking. I always pull on the door handle to check to make sure I locked my car, but I'm not sure how that's gonna work if the door automatically unlocks when the fob is close enough...

If you're in the store wondering whether it's locked or unlocked? Shouldn't you have hit. Lock button and heard the horn o seen the lights blink? That usually notifies you that it's LOCKED! Lol

The 4th gen had a flashing red light on the dash, didn't it?

On the c6 as soon as you were out of range it would automatically lock. No worries about if you forgot to lock it.

Actually I think that would be a bad place for a tweeter. I would not want tweeters next to 1 ear and not the other. Tweeters play frequencies that are very directional and IMO you want them placed somewhere in front of you for best imaging. Not right next to one of your ears. I'd be disappointed if that is the tweeter placement.

Possibly a microphone for Bluetooth or Bose noise cancellation?

Upon zooming on it, it looks like a "vent" of some sort, maybe?

Generally if you unlock the doors and don't open them, then they will lock after a period of time. However if you do open a door (such as when getting out of the car), then they will stay unlocked when you walk away from the car.
You have two options: 1) push the button on the outside of the door. If it unlocks, then hit it again to re-lock the doors. 2) hit the fob if you are farther away. I have learned how the orientation of my fob so that I don't have to take my keys out of my pocket when I want to double check that my car is locked. I just hit the button and wait for the hazard lights to light up. |

I doubt that is a tweeter. That would be a disaster for sound quality and imaging. Could it be something to do with the internal lighting "show"?
I believe you can see the tweeter in the windshield reflection, in the front corners of the dash. Last edited by Bassment; 05-19-2015 at 02:59 PM. |

So...for the car, just have your smartphone, you should be able to check the status or arm / disarm from that...i think this is accurate.

99% of the time I really did lock it.....it's just so routine I can't remember. That app is great to use for that...one time we were in a hotel room and I wasn't 100% sure we locked it and used it.....put my mind at ease.
