Trans-am or Firebird variant? Or just something to give some media buzz... Hide a 1LE and make everyone go a little crazy guessing!!

These patents only apply to the Corvette. They have nothing to do with the Camaro, yet.

Either way, the road block to a Z/28 is the lack of engines. Until you see a Corvette running around with a naturally aspirated V8 making 550 hp, you won't see a Z/28.

That is a huge leap. One of the diagrams in the patent is a Camaro. This will certainly debut on the Corvette, but I would say this is something we will see on the Z/28 if we get one.

True, but it looks to be a 5th gen. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with what cars it will end up on.

Agreed, it is a 5th gen and the pictures don't really mean much, but I don't know how you could say it only applies to the Corvette. I would assume they would want to use it for more than one car though. It could be related to the ZR-1 or it could be something for the C8. Eventually it will make it's way to the Camaro. The question is how soon.

I didn't mean it would never come to the Camaro. I meant it would be used on Corvette for a while, before it made its way to the Camaro. The initial articles I saw only mentioned Corvettes. This is the first that had anything to do with the Camaro.

That's why I posted the link.

The system will likely apply to many platforms to varying degrees to improve track performance, decrease wind resistance to improve fuel economy or safety.

ho hum

As an owner of a 15 Z/28; I'm afraid I look at threads where folks go bonkers and call every camoed Camaro as the "new" Z/28. Last one was the ZL1 1LE right?? We saw that the same time last year.Personally I think Chevy should use Mercury Performance on an upscale LS7 427 with 775HP...whichis BTW exactly what they've developed.

oh..and screw little v6 turbos on a Z/28

Now back to my

Others will get around them with minor tweaks just like GM is doing. Look at Ferrari 488 and new Mac, they are both graced nose to tail with active splitters, wings, ducts and adjustable ride height not only for straights but for corner bias as well. Watch for similar moveable elements on 2019 Mustang, they're testing them now along with supercharged Voodoo 5.2. Active aero is relatively inexpensive and we'll see more moving forward.

48 volt mild hybrid power systems will start appearing in select platforms 2018-2019 to drive water pumps, AC and other parasitic draws to help increase MPG and free up power.

Delphi 48 volt system explained

Each time we ponder and discuss the limit to the Chevy Camaro's development from Al and the team, seems we underestimate their creativity and potential results i.e. 5th gen ZL1, then Z/28, 1LE and now a 6th gen ZL1 and a ZL1 1LE. I feel a NA Z/28 certainly can be produced and to me, the car does not need to outperform a ZL1 1LE on a track. I would purchase a 6th gen Z/28 with an updated LS7, M6, 305's X 4 and Recaros with A\C that does not cost $75K. This version would not be a sin against the Z/28 moniker. In fact, it would pay homage to Z/28. Leave off the track aero equipment and let's just have a Z/28!! I still remember how much effort and $$ was required to achieve 400 hp, a decent suspension and a mediocre wheel and tire combination to upgrade a "Z28" to handle well. Herb Adams VSE Cheverra anyone?
