Limited orders/Conditions for Purchasing

I commented in the Constraint portion about this topic but i feel it could use its own thread?

So from what i have been told for here in Canada that once you start putting in orders at multiple dealerships, GM will flag your name and cancel all orders you placed and you dont get the car.

I know someone who placed 5 ordered for an Escalade.. He received a call from each dealership stating "GM has canceled his orders and he was only able to purchase off the lot for that vehicle now". Something to do with GM not wanting dealerships to have to much stock of specific vehicles??

We also have to sign a document now stating that we cannot sell the car for 6months and it needs to have a min of 12k KM on it before GM releases the 1$ lean it places on the cars, the cars primary driving location is in Canada and not taken to the USA until after that time frame.. ( stopping US customers from purchasing here )

Is this only a Canadian thing? Has anyone heard of this also here in Canada or in the US?? Im curious to see if this is specific to

Thanks for the heads up, I was literally just considering if I should blanket a bunch of dealerships with deposits until I get an order to bite....

Never heard of that. It's only Canada. I had multiple orders in as did numerous other members of this forum.

Sounds like sissy man Trudeau is turning Canada into communism. Just kidding op. I’ll just share my story with you because I go no insight in the issue. In 2021 I wanted a ZLE badly so I put a deposit in at a local dealership and nothing happened for about 4 months. I kept reading this forum and got the idea from others to do my homework and find higher sales volume dealerships for better odds of getting an allocation. Found 2 that would sell a ZLE for MSRP with a $500 refundable deposit that had sales many times over the original local dealership I placed my order with. I informed all 3 dealerships that the race was on and whoever could get me an order accepted would be the winner … the losers would just refund my deposit.

6 months after placing the local order I received the call that they had gotten an allocation for a ZLE. I was shocked that the other 2 big dealerships had lost to a little dealership that barely sells any Camaros. Got my refund back from the other 2 dealers and now I have one of the greatest sports car ever built. By the way, I was very close to canceling my local order because I didn’t think they had a shot at an allocation and I’m glad I was patient.

Good luck OP … these cars are worth the wait. I would put in orders at a few dealerships no matter what you have heard.

People have reported in the below thread that it has not been an issue in the US.

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=610527

I am not sure why GM would be against it if people are adding their name to multiple dealer waitlist in this current day and age where no one have any idea on when a dealer would get an allocation and a buyer can wait for years or never get one from a particular dealer. I have personally done this with other OEMs and have always cancelled the additional orders once the first one gets accepted.

Thank for the info. I thought it was strange myself.. i can understand wanting to limit how many specific cars if they want to keep them a "collectors" or something but not for a just because kind of thing.

My order seems to be going well so far so im not worried about the multiple dealership thing. I was just curious is this was happening everywhere or maybe it was just the dealerships around my area being pricks/salty about not ordering from them or something..

I don't know anything about not being allowed multiple orders but I just picked up my 23 on Friday. I didn't have to sign any paper saying I wasn't going to sell it for 6 months. Unless this is something they started doing on new orders? I originally ordered a 22 in March then switched to a 23 in April. I think there is something with the Corvettes though, my salesman said GM will give you back $5000 if you keep it for a year.

interesting.. Might be the dealerships here just going against each other because there are 3 within Niagara.
Good to know about the no 6 month signing thing.. Ill have to make sure i can avoid signing that on the day of finalizing all the paperwork.

where about did you order from?

I'm about an hour west of Ottawa in the valley, the dealer I went with is the biggest in our area but it's still small town. I figured I'd try them first before going to a dealer in the city. They always have Corvettes in their showroom so I thought I had a good chance and I lucked out with their first 23 allocation at the end of April. They said they've only received one allocation since mine.

I guess its not technically a we thing now from finding this info out.. It must only be the dealerships in my area trying to push this.

I just picked up my 23 ZL1' last Thursday and I also did not have to sign anything about keeping the car for 6 months. I also got GM Preferred Pricing, almost 5000 dollars off my order. I was so frustrated with the whole allocation game, I went right to GM Exec's to get my car, and they made it happen.
