9 times out of 10, if you have a passenger with you on those evening drives, prepare for snoring because they will most likely be rumbled to sleep.

Not for me. Forced induction is far less restrictive as far as emissions go than NA setups are.
I'd assumed it would be at least 750, based on the previous GT500 and now the Hellcat. 800+ isn't too far of a stretch beyond that. And thats where the Demon is on pump gas. I was actually kinda disappointed in GM with the LT4 when it came out, making only 12 more hp than the LS9 from 5 or so years prior. Figured it would have at least cranked out 700.

Am I the only one who doesn't want an 800 hp car?
Much less an 800 hp car that can't turn a corner? I swear I'm trying not to be sarcastic...I get the appeal of a drag car, and high hp, and whatnot...but I genuinely don't want any of it. Even the ZL1 w/ LT4...I don't know if I'll end up playing with the engine at ALL. 650hp/650 tq is tremendous. |

If they're going to limit cars to only as much power as can be safe, the limit would be around 25 hp. That aught to be enough to keep speeds under 40 mph making almost every accident survivable. That is, if the accident isn outright avoidable. After all, if you've got twice the time to react, and 1/4 the kinetic energy to scrub off its way harder to get into an accident in the first place. Anything beyond that, and it becomes driver responsibility. But so long as you can go at highway speed, a car is easily lethal. Doesn't really matter if its got 2 or 20 times the power needed to go 70 mph. Speed is what kills, not horsepower. A car can have 10,000 hp but its up to the driver to not be a moron.
