I went to a dealer and felt it. The gm one will be a big waste of money....it is such a small decrease in throw. Id spring for hurst or wait for mgw if they do theirs still.

I was bummed out by this because I like the look of the stock shifter. I can't stomach the hurst options. Mgw or none for me

Agreed for the most part on Hurst. However if MGW doesn't move forward, I'd take a Hinson shifter, *if* they are going to make one.

Ugh, that sucks about the short throw. Oh well, more $ for barrels of ethanol until MGW is released. Hopefully they're able to improve on the stock shifter more than GM did. How much better was the Hurst the in your opinion?

I haven't gotten to feel one yet. But gm claims only 6 or 7% on theirs, and I believe it. Hurst I think claims 40% but I'm not sure.

Maybe someone with a hurst can go feel a 1le and see how much the difference is between the two.

Oh wow, thanks, I didn't even know it was that subtle. I've heard a few people say they can't stomach the Hurst, but is that because of just the shift knob or is there another reason? I've seen a few sites that sell weighted replacements that may help.

I'm not a fan of the cue ball, not in this car at least. And the pistol grip isn't any better. Other than that I'm sure it performs excellent.
I've seen others run custom made knobs that look good, but that's probably easily another $100 on top of it all.

I'm gonna wait it out and see what options there are later. It's not like the standard shifter is that bad

All good points...I'm with you on this. I thought the cue ball might feel good to shift with but I think they get very hot in the summer.

I have a cue ball shifter in my kia koup and it fits the hand very nicely...have not noticed a problem in the heat; downside is how fast the colour faded (no uv resistance)

I really like my Hurst. I got a SS ball from EPCO. Doesn't get hot, although stick can get hot from trans, not sun. I saw video of 1LE, and Hurst is way shorter throw. Only complaint is a little notchy going into 1st & 2nd. It does feel like 40% shorter throw. A little involved to install, but I think well worth it.

Frankly, i think the stock m6 only needs stiffer bushings. The throw distance is still pretty fantastic especially considering it is stock.

I am interested in the GM short throw but for 6 or 7% shorter... that won't be worth 250 bucks+. I just need to check it out on the 1LEs.

Yeah the throw difference isn't large but if you want a stiffer feel, it'll give you that. Can't wait to get mine and install it.

When you say notch on 1&2, what do you mean? Does it not like to go into 2nd sometimes if you shift fast?

We've got a little notchyness now when the car is cold between 1 and 2. I think it's normal when the car is cold but it should disappear pretty quickly after a few shifts. Does it not go away?
