Dash Cam Advice

Hello everyone hope you all had a very happy and safe new year.

I have wanted to get a dash cam since I got the Camaro yet I have no past experience with them.

I was hoping for some recommendations as to what has worked best for everyone.

I really like the one in this link:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HD-1080P...item2337ad49e8

I really don't want one that is going to obstruct my view or attract thieves.

thanks guys

Idk man that one looks pretty weak. It straps to your current rearview mirror?! It has to be massive! I've always wanted a dash cam myself but im holding out for something better in the $150 range. Also a dash cam is only useful if you can read the license plate of the car in front of you. I wouldn't count on that with this.

I read a lot about them in the tech section on the forum and this is the one I have been looking at.

I will post a picture of mine when I get home. It was like $68 on amazon and it films in and out of the car. No problems ever with it and produces great audio and video. You don't need something fancy

Just a suggestion... if you have a smartphone, there are apps that are cheap and reasonably decent. The dash cams are nice since (some) are less view obstructing, but the ones worth having can be $$$.

I've been looking on and off a while and haven't found one with glowing reviews, seems the tech needs to mature a bit more. The Garmin dash cam is the closest I've come to buying one.

The Mobius ActionCam B, which I use, is great. It can be setup to turn on and off with the car if you plug it into the lighter, and works well daytime or night. Plus it's about the size of a TicTac box.

Just make sure you get the B lens and not the A lens. The B lens is the wide-angle one.

I bought a BlackVue Wi-Fi DR500GW-HD 16GB Car Black Box/DVR Recorder.

Mounted on the windshield hidden by the rear view mirror. Quality picture and easy to use. The only drawback us every time it powers up, it plays "BlackVue for your safe driving." No biggie.

+1 on the BlackVue dashcams. Have three of them DR400G II, DR550GW, and DR650GW.

I use a GoPro. Big and nasty looking :-) but I have a Duramax and a Harley that i use it on also. Switching it between them is the good part about it but it works for me.

I also have the BlackVue DR500GW mounted right below the rearview window mount. I really like it a lot except the audio quality is very poor. It has good playback features and GPS and reliable. I have had it 1.5 years.
- night time
- day time (overcast)

I also looked at the Mobius Don57 mentioned and it also looks like a really good camera and is very affordable (and more stealthy than the Blackvue). I might get this one next. There are many good cameras on the market now. I would not buy anything without a decent review on Amazon if you want a guideline to follow, and you should be able to read license plates and signs on the road too.

Without looking at the reviews, the camera you mentioned looks too cheaply priced to be reliable, but could be wrong.
