How to run in the 11's on a Stock 2SS A8?

Afternoon guys. With Spring coming i'm looking to get the Camaro back to the track and hopefully run in the 11's before it gets too god awful hot.

My car is a 2SS, A8 car 100% stock. I don't want to do anything that will void the warranty as the car has spent as much time at the dealer as it has in my garage but that's a rant for another time.

Current;y I've gone as fast as 12.40's at 116 mph. All stock, Tires at full pressure and foot braking the car to about 1500 RPM. This was done on a 95F day with the DA in the 1600 range.

I'm really looking for an 11.99 time slip and wondering how to get there without voiding the warranty. I'm currently buying a a set of 305/40/18 DR's and plan to run on a cool night in the early spring.

What else is required?

Ported TB & IM will help. Those won't be spotted by the dealer.

Dragpack, rotofab dry cai, ported throttlebody 11.88 cool air! cool air! cool air! With the right air and traction you could get that 11.99 with nothing. Good luck

DA DA DA DA DA and a badass prepared track!! Negatives will be your best bet. Shallow stage and hope the track will pretty much dead hook or close. It still maybe a stretch. Most of the best times or 11 second stock times I have seen guys are cutting 1.8 60fts or better on street tires.

Your DR's and a low DA. Leave at idle and not 1500 rpm, if it hooks you should get there.

X2

and ive run in the 11 second range with a a8 convertible with drag radials and postiive DA ( 449+density alt @ 67 degrees out track elevation 22 feet )
these cars are fairly easy to get a convertible into the11's and even easier for a coupe with drag radials only and a drop in stock replacement hi flow factory air filter .

Looking forward to it. Radials arrived Saturday and got them mounted. Ordered the PRAY Ported TB and a drop in K&N last week.

Hopefully we'll see an 11.99 early in the season.

Keep us posted , with good air I think mine would dip into the 11.80's range fairly easy

Little update to this thread.

Went to Great Lakes Dragway this past Saturday. Temps were good and the track was vell prepped and hooking great. Temps were in the upper 50's the entire day.

Car is basically stock with 315/40/18 Nt05R radials, Pray ported TB and CIA cols air kit with the dry filter. DA was -241

Track mode, nannies off, foot braked to about 1500 rpm. Ran pretty consistant low 12's with a best of 12.17 at 115.88mph.

Was really hoping for an 11 second time slip. Figurd if it was going to happen if would been in that air. How do I find .20 withoutvoiding the warranty or spending a ton of $$$?

Practice and dialing in the car and yourself.

I went 11.07 a bunch of times on a drag pack and warranty friendly mods on the full stock exhaust.

I was tuned though so I guess that disqualifies me.

If I were you, I would do:

26" drag pack, ported IM/TB, Roto-fab w/ dry filter, ditch the seats and rear section of the muffler and have at it.

I launched the car at progressivly higher RPM until it started to puch the front tires locked throgh the beams and each time the car dead hooked but never bogged.

I played with tire pressures from 20 to 30psi with the best time coming at 26psi.

Best 60' was 1.76 so it's hooking great.

Being an A8 there's not much driver dialing it to do. Launch it and hold the pedal down.

Hoosier slicks/skinnies and race star wheels, Rotofab and no tune 11.71@119 w/1.73 60 ft. but I also went 121 mph on another pass that day at Gateway Motorsports, no other mods. WOT right off idle.
