Has anyone put TPMS sensors in their drag packs?

Yes. I ordered mine from the dealer parts desk and had them shipped to PK Auto Design who was putting my wheels and tires together. You can buy them slightly cheaper online but you have to make sure they're the correct frequency (they're RF sensors).

I bought the AUGOCOM El-50448 GM TPMS Activation Tool for $40 but that's not available anymore. Search Amazon for [GM TPMS] and a whole bunch of them will pop up at $20-$60.

Too bad GM didn't see fit to give us ability to store more than 1 set of wheels. I re-learn twice every time I go to the track - once after I put on the track wheels and again when I put the stock wheels back on. It takes about 1 min to complete.

When having tire pressure sensors in the drag pack what happens when you drop pressure in the rears at the track?

Wouldn't one get a low pressure warning and have the same problems I talked about?

Ive got the sensors in my dragpack when I air em down at the strip I do get the low pressure warning. Cars power has always been fine but 2 different times out of many It wouldnt go into competitive mode but the traction control did go off so I ran it like that and it ran fine. And once the service stabila trac light came on while spinning out of the burnout box. Dont know if they were glitches or something to do with low pressure warning beats me .

I still get the low pressure warnings but I just dismiss them. They don't come back 'til I shutdown and power up again. I don't think you'll see any engine power reduction - I never do. The power reduction and problems getting into performance modes may be a precaution built into the ECM. If it doesn't see a TPMS sensor it may presume there's a malfunction that may make it unsafe to drive in competitive modes.

When I first got my new drag wheels and DRs I assumed everything would just sync up. My tire pressure page looked normal sitting in the driveway. Once I got a mile or so away the rear wheels showed up with dashes instead of pressure. I think I also got a TMPS system error but I didn't record it. I thought something might be wrong with the TPMS sensors so I brought it in to the service dept. They knew right away what the problem was. Took them just 5-min to get the learn tool and reconfigure - no charge. The stock wheels were sitting in my garage within range of the TPMS RF signal - until I drove away. That's why it looked normal at first.

After that I knew I had to get a re-learn tool for myself. I wasn't about to go to the dealer before every track day.

Ive never had any issues not running sensors. The only time I had an issue was when I had a low pressure warning light that was still in the system from when I had a flat with my factory tire before switching to my drag pack.

It was really low at the last reading as well. Like 7 psi. I wonder if that was the cause? Airing them down to about 20 at the track with sensors might not cause the same issue....idk

I've never run any sensors in my drag pack and never had a light on and I put over 130 run on my car last year.

My warning light comes on after some miles saying the sensors not working. But as I said it has never caused issues with the traction systems etc like the low pressure warning did.

laynlo....if you just switch to the drag pack at the track you probably wont get the warning. it takes a few miles for it to happen. probably more distance than you would run on an average track night. guessing like 10-20 miles

Once I put mine on for the year I leave them on all the time. I only took them off last year for the hot rod power tour and then put them back on till November. So, I don't know why they don't come on. I better not talk about it anymore, they might come on next time at the track.

Yes you can. I have my stock rims with the factory TMPS sensors in them and my aftermarket set with a cloned TMPS sensors. Can swap back and forth with no relearning

this is great to hear , I hadnt had any issues running no sensors in my drag radials , but the TPMS sensor is very accurate at reading pressure and the " clone set " will show no warning signs it sounds like a great idea.

I would like more info on cloning my sensors I am ordering a drag pack and would like this option so I don't have to relearn if possible. which ones to buy relearn tool etc.
