Do you have to change engine oil after each track day?

I'm new to track driving. Some people say they change the engine oil after each track day. I couldn't find information on the manual so I wonder if it's necessary. Thanks!

No. Just make sure to switch to 5w-40 before tracking. You can leave in after the track day.

As Matthew said, but read the manuals for the correct oil brands. Then you can leave it in for both track and DD duty. I change mine when the display says 50% life left. Just to be on a conservative side. That's about 5-6 tracks days plus DD in between.

If you use 15w50 for the track day oil you are supposed to change it back and forth between 5w30 and 15w50 for each track day. If you use a dexos2 0w40 or 5w40 you can leave that in for both track and street driving. The most widely available brand is Valvoline SynPower MST 5w40, you can buy it from Napa Auto Parts

Hey I got 6.7 MPG on my last track day. I thought that was pretty good.

I thought I read in the manual that they recommend a change every 4 hours of track time, and I tend to do 2-3 days between oil changes, which, I think, ends up about 4 hours.

I'm at 4,100 miles and I'm on my third oil change!

From the Performance Manual:

"During track usage, do not follow
the Engine Oil Life System status.
Change the engine oil after four
hours of accumulative track usage.
If 15W-50 oil is used, it must be
changed back to the engine oil
listed in the “Engine Oil” section of
the owner’s manual."

It's on page 15 of the Canadian 2018 Performance Manual, available through my.gm.ca. Strangely, the US 2018 Performance Manual is not available through my.gm.com.

IMHO, Oil is the Engine's blood.

I change the oil after every track day as its cheap insurance.

Just try to look at it this way;

Track Day = Racing

How mant race teams leave their track oil in the car after racing?
Why?
During a normal oil change how many WOT runs will you have vs. On a Track EVERY run is a WOT run.

Its also especially important with the SC cars in that additional oil is sucked into the intake and this oil needs to be removed.
