Is this thread serious?

SS>C6

My buddies LS2 Vette ( tune only A6 on a 17" drag radial ) ripped off a 12.4 at the strip.

Let me know when a tune only A6 Camaro on a tire does this.

Corvette > SS all day long......

Well, the thread has deviated a lot from what I think the OP asked about. I interpreted the post as asking for ownership comparisons to see how the two cars play off of each other. Now it's just a pissing match about which is faster.

Not sure how it's a match...the Vette is clearly faster all the way around.

Yeah quarter mile should be close - a driver's race. From a highway roll, the LS2 Vette wins.

I would still choose a Camaro SS over a LS2/LS3 base Vette.

Ok seems to be a lot of confusion with the corvette and camaro.
The LS2 Corvette 06-07 comes with 400hp and runs about a 12.7, a stock SS has can def do that.
The LS3 Corvette is much faster than any stock SS(L99/LS3), has a little more power, better transmission and is much lighter. Runs a solid 12.5.
So anyone that says LS2 will destroy SS is wrong. To the OP I would only consider the 08 Vette since the LS3 is a totally different animal than the LS2. And also now that your looking at vettes know that the c6 is coming to an end soon and the C7 will be released so just remember the new Vettes are right around the corner. IMO the 08 Vette is a much better car to drive than the SS, much more excitement and the handling is great on the small Vette.

I was beating modded 5th gens with my bolt on C5 at the strip.

My buddys tune only LS2 was destroying them. Stock LS2 Vettes run 12.6 easy...where can a stock SS do that?!?!? I haven't seen one yet. And don't show me the fast list either.

Check the stock bracket at C5 fest II. Some ran 12.5

In terms of the OP's question on performance. This looks like a drivers race to me. IMO

I would pick the SS over the LS2 vette any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

LS3 vette would be a tough decision for me, ( I really like having the extra seats in the camaro) but based on performance, I'd be driving a vette home.

LS7 vette. I would say camaro what?

The camaro is a great all around package. Being honest. I think if I was choosing between the Op's choices. I would drive the SS home. It's fun to drive, a little smoother, and from what I hear it is probably quieter. (not to mention the extra seats)

I'm in Daytona Beach Florida as I'm writing this. I rented a 2012 Vette from Budget. It seems to not be as rough riding as my SS. As far performance goes I can feel more power in the Vette compared to a stock SS. I have about 550 RWHP in my SS so of course my SS would kick its ass. I love the push button start and the push button doors. I can say that next summer I'm really considering getting a Z06. I would like to know how the Z06 handles and feel the power difference between the base Vette and the Z06. All in all I'm inpressed with the Vette.

Ummmm try not using the "corrected" times list.

That puts the fastest 5th gen #12 on the Vette fast list.
