Evo X v. SS

Thoughts on what would win from a roll , a

evo on a big turbo making right around 530whp/380rwtq

or

17 a8 SS - making ball park around 450/450

I understand hp theres a gap, but transmission and tq play a big role too

If the EVO is truly making 530AWH he will easily pull on you form a roll.

The A8 certainly shifts fast and is consistent but will not make up for the 80 hp deficit. I consistently beat my friends A8 SS with my M6 SS from a roll (we are both stock). The A8 advantage is more from a dig like the EVO.

Also keep in mind the EvoX is a good 200 lbs lighter. Are you sure he doesn't have the DSG?

Well today his car made right around 440whp/340tq. But motor mounts gave up, and his tuner is expecting his car to make 530 or so tomorrow after they fix the motor mounts..

Not sure about DSG.

Will have videos from a runway event in about 2 weeks.

530/380 sounds like tuning for the MR? If so, I wouldn't say you have an advantage with the transmission.

I would say almost definitely unless major driver error, the EVO on each run.

Wouldn't the Evo pull more torque? 380 seems kind of low for that kind of whp, turbo usually builds torque close to HP number, unlike NA that spins higher to make more HP and possibly sacrificing torque to do so.

Many factors come into play, AWD drag is still a big deal and these cars typically do not do as well on the top end, but down low they can play all day, 0-30 and 0-60 as fast as the blink of an eye or as fast as the guy can shift from 1-2.

Torque is acceleration though, if he's really pulling only 380 torque, you probably have an acceleration advantage, although slight enough that it's anyone's game.

Surprisingly these cars make low tq. Should be around 400 if anything. We’ll see today after he’s done tuning

He should pull on you without a doubt. Unless if he royally ****s up cause he's not use to the power.

So the Evo pulls about half a car at each shift but then when it grabs what looks like fourth gear it falls on its face and the camaro goes around it

I think in this instance its because it only makes below 400 TQ and has to rev real high to make 500+ HP and at those speeds he literally doesnt have enough torque to beat the Camaro to its own powerband.

If the turbo is too small, that could be it, however, 500hp takes an aftermarket bigger turbo in the first place.

AWDs are tricky to launch, especially with big power. Few months back, a guy showed up to PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) with an Evo he bought, fully built with 1100 hp. A grandma in a minivan could have outdone him on the launch. Ran dismal times too. Run him and see what happens, should be fun regardless of the outcome.
