I know how you feel on that one. I'm hoping my 2002 will hold out long enough for me to get an SS. I think the existence of the Z28 depends on the success of the ZL1. Chevys performance division is always working on different ideas for the Camaro so if they need to come out with the Z28 they will, and a good chunk of the R & D should already be done by then.

why would they release one better than the zl at roughly the same time. come on people. what is with the z28 anyway? its just a number. would you feel better if they renamed the zl1 to z28? would that satisfy you? |

why do you say that? I said that basically because thats what the ZL-1 roots stem from and typically teh z28 is a better handling car so I would anticipate a z28 eventually thats slower, but handles better than the zl1 ... similar to the mustang boss / gt 500 .... anyway who knows

I want a Camaro that has equal (preferably better) stats than a Boss at the same $40K price. What would you call that Camaro?

New to the site and I've been waiting to buy a Camaro. It's going to be ZL1 all the way for me, finally GM is bringing a car of this caliber to the Camaro lineup. The z/28 is speculation IMHO, so no more waiting!!
Have some of you really already put down payments at dealers to secure a ZL1? If so, I'm thinking I should do the same, but it seems kind of early, no? It doesn't sound like GM is going to cap production limits, so I wouldn't imagine there will be a problem being able to purchase one. Hmmm, now I'm thinking....it would be nice to know I've secured one of these cars as soon as they are released! |

Here is the deal....
You have three choices; 1. Wait and see what the Z/28 is. My guess is by the time the ZL1 is available, we will know what chevy is doing 2. If you don't have the faith and/or patience, then jump the gun and buy the ZL1 3. Buy the ZL1 because if the z/28 comes out as expected/speculated and is a track car and you really want a torque monster...... ok, not sure if thats really 3 choices since two of them are "buy the ZL1", but its at least my $0.02 |

7.0L V8, 3.73 gears, awesome suspension upgrades and maybe a cool body kit would be great! That would be difficult to choose between the Z28 and ZL!, but maybe not.... just take the bigger engine and supercharge that!! lol

That would be bananas, Z28 w/ 427 7.0L V8 3.73 and the ZL w/ 6.2L LS3 for both M6 and A6 and supercharger it and whatever gears...

Just going with a gut feeling.... And the fact that you would not need to add magnetic ride control to a car thats made to go in a straight line. MRC tells me this car is made for the twisties!
But like you said... who knows? We will all find out eventually |
