Posi traction?
I have never done a burnout, so I didn't know. Does the LS have a Posi-traction rear end or a limited slip?

Manual, yes. Auto, no

Like said if it's an auto then no. If manual then yes. Also for those that might not know. Limited slip and Posi-traction are the same thing. Just different names. The auto 6cyl gets an open differential.

I have a 1LT and when I do a burnout both tires spin it doesnt mater if its on dry or wet road and on a wet road when it shifts in to 2nd gear it goes sideway so I would think it has a limited slip and it's an automatic.

Automatic no, manual yes, option G80 see the chart on this link. Standard on both A6 & M6 on the SS models.

An open diff applies equal amounts of torque to the wheels at all times. So long as both wheels start spinning at the same time and keep the same rotation you will likely get both wheels to spin. Now try doing a burn out and turning slightly, you will see that only one wheels spins and that is the limitation of an open diff.

Yeah... they pretty much are the same thing. "Positraction" is GM's name for Limited Slip Differential (LSD). My '63 Studebaker called it's LSD, "Twin Traction". Here's a list of what other car companies call their LSDs:
Factory names[edit] In the 1950s and 1960s many manufacturers began to apply brand names to their LSD units. Packard pioneered the LSD under the brand name "Twin Traction" in 1956, becoming one of the first manufacturers. Other factory names for LSDs include:

when I ordered my 2010 V6 I tried any way I could and could not get the limited slip with the automatic. only with the manual. there is no option for LSD with the automatic.

Easy way to tell:
Get the rear tires off the ground and put it in neutral. Spin the tire on one side. If the other side spins the same direction you have Posi/limited-slip etc. If the other tire spins the opposite way you have an "open" non-posi rear. |
