I've had some unique non-sequitor experiences. I did 6 years active duty Navy as a Machinist Mate from 1989-1995. Got both ditch passes and a blue nose initiation. Coldest I ever got was in the North Atlantic during early spring 1991 coming back from Desert Storm. We measured the ice build up on parts of the ship in feet. I think the worst part of this 6 year stint was a 9 month deployment working 7 12s a week for all but 3 weeks down in the engineroom.
Went back in but Air Force in 2001. Active guard (AGR) in Security Forces since 2005 and enjoyed it. Hottest I think I ever saw was the Deid in August on our way out of Iraq, just because of the added humidity. The pool with the Dairy Queen was sweet though. Never really saw any action in Iraq other than a few rockets and shells. Worst danger was from threat of food poisoning from the DFAC.

I trained in Mountain Warfare at Pickle Meadows, California. I was in Jungle Warfare School at Camp Butler in Okinawa and dug holes from Manifa Bay, Saudi Arabia to Kuwait City living the life of a grunt in Desert Storm 1991. All of them can be described as the arm pits of the world where every day was a parade, and every meal a banquet. God, I miss those days. Oooh *** Rah.

Iraq '03-''04 attached to 1st MEF. But the hardest is being retired and watching my son go. That's the worst.
