This.

When they announced the end of the Viper their prices didn't go up either.

Try to get one now and see how much it will cost you.

And if it was true that they “sell as many as they can make” then they would have not cut the price. The Model S and X don’t qualify for the incentive either.

Video games can make any sound, too. Not really the same thing when it comes from a couple speakers.

It’s actually very easy to track on the internet.

And back on topic, I like that they are putting the Panther reference up front. It’s been pretty much “inside baseball” knowledge. Only the deep Camaro community has been really aware of it. I wonder if there might be some tie to a future product name for the eventual Camaro replacement. Start priming the pump now connecting Panther to Camaro, then introduce a Panther nameplate or trim on a future EV sports car.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that thing sounds like crap!
Don't care how hard they try...no battery powered car will ever replace the natural sound of an I.C.E V-8.

So now the Camaro, if it becomes an EV CUV, will be a raging success due to the use of a name which by all accounts is currently unpopular, a sales disaster, in a dead segment and is long overdue for the scrap yard as a gm product.

Yeah, put that name on the next gen and just watch the magic as the public suddenly realizes they now want a Camaro. lol...I don't think so. Call it a Panther and end the charade of EVs being called something they are not.

If they are selling every one they can make but a higher priced, better contented competitor drops their price to be the same as Ford’s and that competitor’s vehicles are more available, you will definitely see a swing in customer interest and sales could drop to below what they can produce. Not a good place to be.

If Dunkin has lines out the door for their coffee but suddenly the Starbucks next door cuts their prices to be dead on what Dunkin’s prices are, those lines will go away quickly. That is Ford’s motivation to react to Tesla price cuts.

Model S and Model X don’t qualify and even if they did, most of their customer base has household income well above the thresholds set by IRA, so they still wouldn’t qualify. $150k for taxpayers filing as Single, $225k for those filing Head of Household, and $300k for those filing Married, Joint. This is the effort of the IRA to avoid providing incentives to those who don’t need them. A common complaint of the 2011-22 EV Incentive program.

I graduate in 2 years from PA school. I can’t afford a ZL1 right now. If I want one by then, guess it would have to be an used one.

If anyone here wants to keep their ZL1 in their garage for 2 years for me, I’d appreciate it very much

This is a sad time for youthful ICE fans who may have been intoxicated by working on or growing up with some of the greatest "living and breathing" performance engines to roll off of American assembly lines only to end up in a future where they can't ever buy a brand new car featuring one.

I was thinking this as well. A panther EV sports coupe & Camaro remains ICE. I would be happy with that. Win win for everyone

Here’s the nuance…the Camaro name is not unpopular. In fact, the name holds a lot of brand equity. Just because a person doesn’t buy a Camaro doesn’t mean they think negatively about the name or the product. Despite certain events in 2001, I think positively about the 911 name for a car and I think very positively about the car itself, yet I’ve never owned one and probably never will.

Sales are not great for a number of reasons, none of those relating to the name of the car. Building brand equity is one of the most expensive endeavors in Marketing. Repurposing an existing name that has high equity can be fruitful (Malibu, Blazer, Bronco) but can also be dangerous (IROC, Daytona, Taurus). One way to bridge that is to build the new name (Panther) by linking it to a known brand (Camaro). Thinking way back, Envoy was a trim level of Jimmy before it completely replaced the Jimmy name with the next platform upgrade.
