Camaro Reliability
My dad is dead set on Chevy being unreliable after the 5 years because when he bought one it broke down and required numerous maintenance.
Is the camaro reliable at all meaning it won't break down after 5 years or need to be fixed a lot? |

All cars have their problems, but I'd say Chevy is way more reliable then some other brands out there...

Well, the floormats won't cause you to be stuck at full-throttle... You might point him to the warranty pages on the Chevy site, as well.

Any vehicle will break down, if you do not take care of it. No matter how much you pay for it.

IMO, I think Chevy is doing all they can to build a world class lineup of cars and trucks, My Camaro has 8200 miles now and has had zero problems, Take your dad into a Chevy showroom, I think he would be surprised!!

First you should tell your dad Chevy used to be the standard for reliability, then the 80's happened. Moving forward GM has improved itself greatly the difference between GM and Toyota is not nearly as bad as it used to be. Consumer reports almost has them on par with each other. However A high powered sports car will never compare with a four banger family car as far as reliability is concerned and buying a first year car from any manufacturer and expecting it to be as reliable as something that has been rolling down assembly line for the past 40 years is just not being realistic. If you are set on the Camaro and reliability is really a worry I would wait to next year and let all the fans be the guinea pigs.

no problems with my Camaro...and in the last 10 years of owning chevy's, I've had a fuel gauge sending unit and an smog check valve replaced...both under warranty. No other issues what-so-ever. The other new cars I've owned...a nissan w/ AC problems that were fixed by the dealer 3 times in a year, and a Subaru that had a blown head gasket 2,000 miles after the warranty expired. Chevy FTW. Also remind your dad of the standard 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and onstar...just in case.
