GM replacing my V6 engine

I have a 2011 2LT with 26,xxx miles. My check engine service light came on last week. The dealer said it was a cylinder misfire code. They put dye in my coolant for a week. They probed the cylinders and found coolant in one of them.

They are replacing the engine. Anyone have any info on if the percentage of 3.6s they have been replaced?

Never heard of one myself... doesn't mean it's never happened, but, at least from MY perspective, loomks like a pretty isolated case. And I am envious of you, too: To start over with 0 miles on the engine is a pretty good deal!

There have been quite a few LLT replacements, overall I would not say very high %. Most were due to the dreading LLT timing chain failure.

Question, you have 10k manufactures warranty left. From what I have read the replacement is only warrantied for 1 year or X amount of miles.

What is the warranty on your new engine?

It's seems like there have been a lot of them from reading this forum. As far as being a high % it's hard to tell in the grand scheme of things.

Your warranty starts end ends with your original purchase, does not reset with a new engine.

Both carbon cylinder damage. Check engine came on both .

The powertrain is warrantied for 5yrs or 100k miles and that would include the engine. The bumper to bumper warranty is for 3/36.

Replacement engine. I'd have to assume the remainder of the factory 5/100

All good questions on the warranty. The replacement engine will be in tomorrow so it'll be Friday or Monday before they are done. I will reply back on the warranty and what they suspect happened to the engine.

I did not like the service department from the Chevy dealer I ordered/bought my car from. From day 1 I had my car serviced at another Chevy dealer that seemed to have a service department that cared. Boy was I right !!!

Just going on a hunch here. But, i seriously have to doubt you had coolant in a cylinder if all they did was replace a cat. Bad cat, no reason to replace engine.
