The 2001 WS6 was the pinnacle of 4th gens.
As for this Trans Am Depot thing... starts at 100k and optioned out its' 200k. Turning a Camaro into a wannabe hypercar with badges off of a dead car just feels wrong. It's like a retailer goes out of business and some shady schmuck buys the name and website for peanuts just to fleece oblivious suckers. |

These guys have a show on TV. Almost all of the body panels are replaced with custom carbon fiber ones. The engines are completely rebuilt also with forged goodies, etc. Im not sure, but they may use custom built heads too. Big bucks.

I already don't like retro stuff so, no. This is way too much in the retro design scheme.

Does this answer the question? My 98 LS1 6 speed WS6. Loved that car. It was totaled when asshole ran red light and Tboned me. I would also just like the body kit not the engine upgrade.

I would not buy a 2nd gen retro themed Trans Am which this reminds me of. I've always disliked the 2nd Gen Camaros and Trans Ams for some reason (also, 2nd gen Mustang was bad). Loved all the other gens for both Camaros and Trans Ams. My personal favorite Trans Am is either the '97 WS6 or the '02 WS6. Also, the late 80s were good for the Trans Am style, IMO. 1990 IROC-Z was a looker, too.
I had a 1995 Trans Am w/ full bolt ons + Comp cams 305 cam and 1.7:1 high ratio aluminum roller rockers, put down 340 rwhp 15+ years ago.

love it!
Not going to lie, i love it... Do i want to change my camaro into it ? no... Would i buy it sitting in a GM lot ? At a reasonable price like it used to be ? Hell yes.. Did GM make a big mistake discontinuing the trans am? OH YEAH!!! Didn't think that 1 through especially now seeing the aftermarket for it. Knowing they could've been the ones to have Burt Reynolds endorse their car... And losing out on all these design genius' ideas. But hey look they discontinued the camaro too. So it doesn't look like the lights are currently on at GM! And all i have to say is if u bring back either 1 in an electric version i will hate you for the remainder of my life! Don't ruin a classic.. Don't make that mistake! I hope nobody buys the new electric charger and Dodge is forced to rethink their stupidity. Call it something else i dont care, it's not a charger, not to me.
Have to also comment on some of the negative feedback this car is getting. GM sold the name to them? Get over it! They are obvious trans am fans, trying to bring back an icon. Good for them! Doing something about it rather than griping about it being discontinued. In fact you really just should've bought the entire pontiac name and lines... Restarted that car company and made it big! But used the Tesla model in way of operating! No dealers with their stupid allocation garbage!! Fraudulent pricing! Charging you over msrp because they can.. I hope you guys buy the Camaro name plate too and do something about that. Because i dont want to see my favourite car die. Fleecing people? Yeah its too expensive, but maybe we don't understand the time and cost of the design, for GM this is easy peasy, they have the teams in place, the marketing in place, cost analysis, etc etc... For these guys in this small of an operation things are just going to get more pricey. Bottom line.. And lets be honest The trans am even before GM took over pontiac, was always an upgraded version of the camaro, and historically more expensive. It's like GM always looked at the Camaro as an afterthought, where as Pontiac put all they had into the trans am. I also don't like how the corvette gets to survive but they want to put my Camaro to sleep. 1 more thing, Did GM drop the ball with no 1le version for 2023 or what? Collector's edition with no 1le package... Did u lose all the brains in that operation or what? I'm starting to feel like we lost another John delorean somewhere down the line at GM. Like they fired the guy with all the good ideas. What we are left with likely is some video game addict millenial at GM who was jealous of losing to all the genx kids in their manuals.. So they built themselves a corvette where they could entertain themselves as driving a manual, without the skill or complication of clutching. If only we had coddled them more and taught them to drive stick we may actually have a better generation of stick shift today instead of an automatic transmission with tiptronic type shifters. That they require a computer version of line lock for, just to do burnouts... Let's be honest the only real improvement to clutching has been the rev match feature... But hey... At least they can't steal my car :P Did i just go on a rant? sry. Last edited by Thestormoverkrynn; 07-23-2023 at 01:32 PM. |

Nope, might as well put on fake fender vents.
Pontiac is gone so is the Trans AM! <--- still sad about it.

Now, this conversion is definitely not for everyone (with the T-top, but especially with a Bama license plate frame, sheesh!!! ), but seeing the car in person, it was definitely very tastefully done. It has a Maggie 2300 under the hood, so not lacking in power department either. The owner was not willing to give me even a ballpark number for the total cost

Part of why I never got into mustangs when I was a kid was Ford had homogenized the body design to the point where I couldn't tell it from a Toyota. I even liked the "Knight Rider" Firebird. To me that's a great example of a body design that was as close to perfection as you can get in this segment. I think it would look great on the road today. |

Though I regret the day Obama killed GM's excitement division, this is an expensive purchase I wouldn't consider. The resale value just wouldn't be there. Who wants to buy a re-branded used car from a defunct car company that never produced it? Not I!
I had a trans am ordered in 1979, gold in color with all of the goodies. After waiting six months I said screw it, got my deposit back, and told them where they could stick my order. Sound familiar? When I ordered my 2023 Camaro it was no different, GM still can't build an order in a timely manner. You can blame their allocation system, dealerships, etc. but when it comes down to it the once lumbering giant loses customers due to their idiotic ordering process. Consumers just don't have the patience for such an idiotic ordering process so they move on. And here we are today...the slow, lumbering, Government Motors still can't build orders for their performance cars in a timely manner essentially killing great cars! When consumers show up to their lots and not a Camaro can be found they move on. When I drive by my local Chevy dealer I see hundreds of trucks, but only one or two Camaro's W/6 cyl. automatics. So it's not consumers who are killing the Camaro, it's the brain trusts at GM! |
