Camaro Sales Down 42% July '15 vs. July '16

I found this article at GM Authority : http://gmauthority.com/blog/2016/08/...lts-july-2016/

I'm not commenting on the 5th generation vs. the 6th, I'm just posting for informational purposes.

****Note: The article miscalculated the sales drop percentage and it now reflects the correct figure of 26%.

Not trading in my 5th gen. I like it better than then new model and I can care less about keeping up with the Gotta have newest product crowd!

Increased price and well just a couple bells and whistles better than our gen 5's and the appearance like the mustang more into futuristic non retro and this is what you get. Sure I would love a new zl1, lord knows the price tag the first ones will sell for, but yup the price is not so right, that's how so many v-6 stangs are on the road $$$$$$$ and the lack of a Camaro for like a decade. Build it cheaper with a solid axle and this or that cheaper and that attracted a lot of people. Low inventory not so much as cleaning house still of older gen 5's and a new product uppriced. I have seen a few of them around here but like ours 1/2 v-6 at least if not more because of cost.

They are pricing out the core buyers. As for me, The Gen 6 is one ugly looking car. Better interior then my Gen 5, but not a better body style.

I think the sales slump is due to the economy more than anything.

I like my gen 5 styling, but the Gen6 is attractive to me as well. I'd love to have that DI engine with the extra ponies and the improved cornering in the SS.

And yet Mustangs are selling near double what they were.

I like the 6th gen, but there wasn't nearly as much of a wow factor when it was released, for multiple reasons

Why do the words say -42% while the chart shows -26%?

I haven't done the math but I believe the article was counting U.S. and Canadian sales combined. I have the same question about that as you do.

The peak year for 5th generation Camaro U.S. sales was 2011 with 88,249 sold. The highest month for U.S. 5th gen sales was April 2011 at 10, 852.

I wonder how much of this can be attributed to removing the Camaro from fleet sales.
