Why are people asking top dollar for 4th Gen Camaros?

I've been looking at 2000-2002 Camaro's and even with over 100K miles people are asking $9,000 or more.

$9,000 would buy me a lot better in the used car market.

Because the 5th Gen Camaros are out, and that has generated more interest in Camaros in general.

I was watching Mecum auto auctions and the commentators also mentioned this as a 4th Gen came across the auction floor.

The Z28 and SS from that time hold their value if taken care of....if you want a six cylinder those should be alot cheaper imo

The 4th gens were no doubt the most powerful of the original F-bodies. By 1998 GM had refined and upgraded the 350 to the point it could deliver 300 hp, 28 mpg on the highway, and superior reliability and driveability for a high performance engine. Remember, 300 hp was quite a bit in '98. You get that out of a V6 today, but in '98 a V6 had 210 TOPS.

If you opted to get a V6, you got the 3800 starting in 1998. Which was by bar GM's most reliable engine and one of the best V6 engines of any car sold in America.

So both Z28s and later V6 models are very desirable.

They were the last of the breed for 7years. They're lighter, fast and kind of in demand by younger people. The ones with low mileage are listed for sale for $13k-$20k.

LT1 4th gens are dirt cheap. Third gens are worth more than them now.

Keep looking. You'll find a good deal. It took me some time to get into my Formula.

Dang! I should have picked up that 94 Z28 Vert with only 67000 miles in mint condition that was going for $7900 near where I live!
