Sprinklers. UGH

C5,

This is the second time this has happened to me, and I wanted to see if I was the only one. I parked my car on the street to go to work and came back to find horrible water marks from the sprinklers that hit it. This happened in NC and I had to get the car professional waxed (not my bill). However, now it's happened in CA. So it's not just a regional thing. My car looked awful and my Quick Detailer wasn't doing the trick. I took it to get hand washed right after and it's still not totally right. What's going on because the other cars on the street had no visible affects on their paint and I know they too were hit????

It won't let me add the picture, I don't know why.

Why does it only do it on the Camaro? Also, it's annoying because it costs money to clean it.

its the minerals (mostly calcium) in the water that do this. at my old house, when i was still driving an old-ish f-150, the sprinklers hit it daily and that side of the truck was slowly turning white. washing with soap, rags, polishing compound, or anything else conventional wouldn't get rid of it.

there is an easy solution. the minerals have a high pH and can be dissolved with vinegar. i was able to get rid of a whole month of hard water build-up off the truck. anything that is mildly acidic will do the trick. vinegar worked fine for me and i had multiple layers of that crud on my truck.

Thank you, I will try this.

You need to get a serious coat of sealant and/or wax on the paint, this will help keep the water off the paint (and on top of the wax). Should greatly reduce water spots.

The same thing happened to me at an apartment I lived at. The sprinklers would hit the front fascia and hood, it was horrible as the car was black and really showed the water spots. Bastards.

Happens on every car. Not just Camaros. But it is frustrating none the less as I have to go out every morning and wipe my car down from sprinklers not being set properly.
