I predict the 6th Gen V8 Camaro to become a classic

As one who has predicted classics since before the were classics I predict the 6th Gen SS and ZL1 become a classic right up with the 1st and early years of the 2nd Gen. Camaro. I predicted the 57 Chevy to become a Classic long before it was a classic. I knew the 55 and 56 Chevy would fall inline behind the 57. I also predicted all the old muscle cars from 60s and 70s would be classic as they were rolling off the show room floors. The 5th Gen Camaro was a good start, but the 6th Gen is the completed package to become a future classic.

I thought they all became classics. 30 years from now when engines run on algae some of us will look back and wish we could go back to today. .

Potentially. But it looks quite similar to other sports cars. Although I'm completely open arms to the idea of it being a classic down the road

With the way technology is changing so much faster today, I am predicting that the classics will stay the classics and these will just continue to be nice old sports cars.

Anything can be classic if it's old enough, and it's in good enough shape. But with the production volumes that they're doing on any of the mainstream cars means it's not gonna be a classic for a long, long time.

This. A huge reason that many classics begin to appreciate is due to the low availability and of course, the high demand. These cars are massed produced with very high numbers, especially when compared to the production numbers of the 60's and 70's. If you want a higher chance of owning a "classic" you'll need to buy a z/28, zl1/1le or the limited special/anniversary editions.

One of the reasons I'm curious about the total build for the 17 A10...have no idea if I will keep it long enough to reach any sort of classic status, but I'm betting total output with the late launch could help long term value for those that stay original & minty for this particular 50th.

Regardless, you are correct...long time indeed.

And not to mention you will have to wait about 40-50 years before the prices starts going up on them.

You'll need software engineers to support and upgrade them in the future. Maintaining a classic in 30 years won't be what it is today. Gotta make enough of them to make an aftermarket viable while not making so many that there's no future value...tough thing to balance.

If you buy a ZL1 1LE maybe, but the standard LS, RS, and even the SS are saturating the market. They are nice cars but they will never hold their value or appreciate.

Just for reference since I hear this brought up often. You might be surprised how many Camaros were built in those highly collectable first years.

'67-69 Total produced: 842,731

'09-Present Total produced: 669,045

That's not even to get into the massive numbers of the 2nd and 3rd gen cars. They sold almost 300K '79 Camaros alone, that's over half the number of 5th gen sales combined! It's not the number produced it's the number actually remaining. Cars built in the 60's/70's didn't last unless someone cared for them. That's why they are collectible today. So the mass produced argument doesn't really account for it. Just the availability. Now when you get into unicorn models like the original ZL1, '67 Z/28, etc...it does make a huge impact to their collectibility. But hell some of the most awful cars in history are highly collectible due to the low numbers produced of them...thankfully lol.
