A lot of people ditch VVT (variable valve timing) and DOD (displacement on demand), effectively rendering the L99 into an LS3 valvetrain wise. Whether to keep or delete VVT is a heated debate with people/shops on both sides of the fence, I would suggest doing your own research and deciding accordingly. We typically delete VVT here. You need to delete DOD at the very least when swapping cams as the L99 lifters won't be able to take it.

Rough parts cost on adding Magnacharger TVS 2300, (you need to include injectors/boost a pump since you have intake/headers) - around $7500. Pick up anywhere from 100-150rwhp roughly. $50-$75/per hp. All comes down to your budget and what you use the car for. Cams are great mods - nice bang for the buck without spending a fortune, great sound, you can always add a supercharger later - but depending on how big you go, can have less than great driveability and hurt MPG. Superchargers are nice also though, nothing like bolting on a ton of horsepower in just one day, absolutely no difference in driveability except that it hauls butt, doesn't really hurt MPG unless you're in it all the time. But hits that bank account a lot harder Check out some of our builds on our Customer Build Blog, gives you lots of ideas there! |

cam it. unless you have the money for a blower. a cam with install will be around 3k at most shops. a SC will run you around 9k with install. im debating on the cam as well, i may do the ls3 conversion but some people say dont do it and i still dont 100% understand why they say dont do it..

nah the super charger is kinda like the final frontier when it comes to mods haha thats why its the most money. get a cam setup that will allow for supercharging later on in case you get bored and want more power (which you will lol)

I have an L99 and did the cam, GM Performance heads, Long tube headers route and it's fantastic for the buck! I've driven it that way for about a year and a half and decided I needed to step it up. Went with a nitrous kit. Best bang by far for the buck.
I also did the DOD/AFM delete when they did the cam. If you go that route, make sure they change your springs, rods, and your timing chain tensioner as the stock one is kind of the weak link in there. I went from 314HP at the wheels to 455 at the wheels cam, heads only. Pretty awesome little bump.
