See the signature below...and I have a big cam...
The mileage hit comes with the profile and what the cam is designed to do... There are plenty of cams out there that will offer good mileage as long as you keep your foot out of it... Talk to some cam people, or engine builders and you will get good information... Anytime you allow an engine to breathe better, you risk mileage... primarily due to hammering it just to hear the sound... A well designed profile will increase performance with a minimal hit to the MPG's... I have a Lingenfelter GT-9 cam, designed for boosted applications... and with the numbers in my sig, I still get over 23 mpg's on the highway... WHEN I keep my foot out of it... When I stomp on it... who knows how bad it gets... with the aeromotive eliminator fuel pump and 93 lb/hr injectors... Lingenfelter GT-9 By Comp Cams Adv-Dur Int 265 Exh 297 Dur @ .050 Int 215 Exh 247 Lobe Seperation angle 121 degrees... Lift Int .629 Exh 658 Again, this is for boosted applications with the very wide LSA...

around 13-14.5 ...all city, but I have a heavy foot, a decent size stall, and I give it a good jab usually once an outing.

I get 11.2 city, 25-27 freeway. stock w/ afm was 16 city, 28 freeway. without afm was 14 city. still much better than my truck though, it gets 8 city, 17 freeway.

Averaged 21.5 at 80 mph 250 mile trip. I lost way more in town than highway, partially because of converter I think.

I have the Livernois stage 2 cam. I get about 18mpg, but it could be better if I keep my foot out of it. Lol.

Nothing scientific, but the best I ever saw pre-cam was 21 mpg hwy. 23 mpg hwy post-cam. Problem is keeping your foot out of it.

I have long tube headers, 3 inch exhaust to 3 inch Flowmasters, CAI and Livernois 2C cam and dyno n street tune. I get 25 mpg all day on the highway. In town driving mpg is for sh*t, but who cares?! . . . . It sounds awesome and the added horse power is the balls!
If you 're concerned about reduced mpg, don't start engine performance mods. |

I have seen little change to my gas consumption since doing my build. As others have posted, there is a direct correlation between the right pedal and how quick the fuel disappears.... as well as the rear rubber
