SS 1LE 2 ZL1 1LE
I currently have a naturally aspirated SS 1LE making around 490whp and 480wtrq
I am considering switching from this to a ZL1 1LR. Has anyone here made the switch? If so, any advice or thoughts? Would be my DD I don't care about ride comfort Won't see much track time, but lots of mountains and canyons Plenty of room to open her up where I live |

Well you certainly won't regret the upgrade to the 1LE.

I made that swap a few months ago & have no regrets. I honestly think from a dig my SS would’ve been really close through a 1/4 mile, but from higher speeds you’ll really notice the extra power of the ZL1. FWIW, you won’t notice a significant upgrade as far as handling on the streets & you’ll lose some top end with the ZLE vs a regular ZL1. I’ll give you an advance warning on the tires too... they suck for anything except warm/hot, dry roads. I thought the SS 1LE tires were bad when cold until I tried driving this on cold streets lol. I daily mine & swapping to a more friendly street tire really helped for daily use.

It is worth it. I had a 2SS 1LE and now a zl1 1LE. The zle is an amazing car and the ride isnt as bad as everyone says especially if you get street tires. I look forward to the ride after driving a Camry all day.

Probably should have stated that I live in the desert.
So there are only 3 months where the average high is below 80. I've never had even the slightest annoyance when it comes to traction with 490whp once I changed to the BMR arms. Some slip if I go full gas in 1st above 10mph, but that is expected. I know the ZLE has a bigger traction problem, but just wanted to put that out there. Alot of reviews say the tires on the ZLE are amazing. If you switch to a "DD friendly tire" is it a pretty big difference in terms of performance? |

On the street when the tires are warm I think there is myself. I have PS4S on my ZLE.
