Notice I never said anything about revving my engine, I have never done that at someone and never will. He asked if was fast, i never said it was just fast as i want to go. My car is clearly badged as a 1LT so I am not posing as anything. If anyone asks i tell them its a V6 with 323 hp. Also EVERYONE that has heard the exhaust on my car comments on how good it sounds, even V8 owners. I don't brag about it I only tell the truth. If that sounds like bragging then everyone on here brags about their car at one time or another......
That's right I brag about mine all the time! I caught a couple of kids taking pictures of my car today, I love the attention but it happens all the time..

I guess he had just went to flea markets and bought old trophys and tried to make people think his car had won them. It looked a lot like this car..
Oh God that would be super creepy.

narrow tires on wide rims should be illegal. unsafe. Just like the idiots that make the back of the truck lower then the front. Just shows your stupidity. The rims make it look like you screwed up and bought the wrong tires and the trucks look like the springs are broken. And GM put the wrong size tires on the ZL1 that was at my dealer. the tires were narrower then the rims. just like in that pic. The badges thing. I put red SS badges on my 12 6.2l Silverado that I lowered put Sway bars LT headers and a supercharger on. I was going for a If GM made a 12 Silverado SS this would be it.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

I wasn't going to be the first to mention the tire and wheel matter . . . or especially anything about "legality". But now that the door has been opened . . .

JC - The difficulty comes in establishing the boundary between that which is "acceptable" and that which is not. And you don't get to insert your own preferences and prejudices into it either; any law needs to remain neutral in that respect.). You may not like what the rear setup on the 1LE looks like, but it is entirely within the tire industry (Tire and Rim Association) guidelines for tire size vs wheel width.

I don't happen to like the appearance of tires that are squeezed down onto rims closer to min-recommended than max. Does that mean I'm entitled to a law that would make an awful lot of OE tire/wheel packages, (including the SS) illegal? See what I mean?

That said, the maximum and minimum "acceptable" rim widths for every tire size are at best recommendations. While I don't think that individual tire manufacturers are absolutely bound by those tables, there aren't very many tires that don't conform (there are a few).

Fortunately, those max/min widths appear to be slightly conservative. IOW, the first half inch outside either the max or min widths does not change the setup from being perfectly safe to fail. Reality does not divide that sharply, unless you're standing at the edge of a cliff or at the end of the plank on a pirate ship.

While it is not possible to determine the tire size shown in Post #1, it is possible for it to be too small in terms of load capacity. To clarify, I'm talking about what a 4000 lb car actually needs, not the oversize-overcapacity tires that Chevrolet has seen fit to put on these cars (likely with appearance reasons in mind). Check out JusticePete's thoughts on the matter of Camaro tire sizing if you don't want to take my word for it.

At some point, yes. But when it's only the appearance that's offending you, you have to step back a bit. It may not matter to you, but tires that are mildly stretched wider than their so-called "measuring width" do provide handling and steering response benefits. The "cost" is only some additional risk of curb rash on your rims until you start getting crazy far outside the T&RA guidelines. Not that you're supposed to be scraping along curbs or anything . . .

Just for illustration, the 626 tires (50 profile) are on wheels half an inch below max recommended, and there is a huge amount of tire distortion going on in a hard corner (right front tire at 37 psi is squashed and folded under and the sidewall bulge on the right rear has disappeared even though it was inflated to about 45 psi).

By comparison, the Malibu, with much taller 60-series tires and relatively more of its weight on the rear tires but on wheels half an inch above max width, shows much less tire deformation, even at only 33 psi or so. Same driver (me), both cars being cornered to the point where the outside front tires are carrying very little weight.
