Yep, I've decided against doing it. I just don't feel like giving the cops any real reason to pull me over. In WI 50% is legal for passenger and driver windows. That just doesn't seem worth doing. I also will not have different tint on the front vs on the back. It would look like crap to me. So I'm just going to leave it alone. I was going to do 20%, but with my luck, I'd do it and then get pulled over within a week to be told to remove it. Money down the $hitter. My neighbor (who tints all his vehicles) said he's been pulled over twice. He takes it off, goes to get it signed off, then comes home to only put new tint back on. To each his own.

Looks nice. The side skirts add to the look of the 1LE in my opinion. And of course the the rock guards and the side skirts add protection to the car.

Wow that tint is super dark. Anything darker than 35% is illegal here. I was going to do 35% on my car, but the interior of the car is already so dark with all the black and the small windows. I can't imagine what its like with 5% tint.

On a related note, isn't that 5% tint illegal in NJ? Don't you guys get pulled over for tint? Oh, and I don't see a front plate either, those two together feel a bit riskier...

Sooo, I'm def subjecting myself with the tint. All tint, except the back window, as long as you have two side view mirrors, is illegal. In fact, you could paint your back window black if you wanted to. The plate... eh... I know there will be "that one" cop, same w/ the tint. But so far have passed many cops without incident. My husband has been pulled over (before the tint) and nothing was said about the plate. The lady at the inspection station only asked if I had one on the rear and slapped a 5-year sticker on it. Luckily this one only gets driven a couple days a week which can reduce the chances of getting pulled over. But then again, those couple of days are hella fun days

Also been debating painting the rock guard screws. Part of me wants the sleek, but there's a little ruggedness about it now that brings me back to the days of driving 3rd gen z28's in fields for parties

35% is a great compromise, looks nice, still easy to see out of (even at night) and pretty much doesn't grab any attention from the cops because they can still see in (all my cars have 35% on all windows (except windshield) and have had no issues in CA (were tint on front driver and passenger windows is illegal).

With the heat in Arizona, I think most cops are pretty lenient with tint. I've had 5% (limo) on all of my windows (except windshield) on all of my Camaros and I've never had an issue. If I'm in a situation where it might be an issue, I always roll the window all the way down to give them an unobstructed view into the car.

Similar here in Texas, I think cops in big cities just have better things to do.

When inspection time comes though, that is a pain!

From what I've been reading, WA allows 25% on the sides and back, and a 6" band on the windshield. We'll see what the shop says on Tuesday 😊

From my understanding (and I could very well be wrong) my Tahoe from the factory has 20 on all the rear glass. If I did 35 on the front, I think it would look out of place. The place I was going to take it to for tint said the same. Very reputable place. Said, they'd do 20 on the front so it matched everything else.

Now the Camaro has no tint, so yes, I could to 35 all the way around.

My Harley has a tinted screen. I see over the screen when riding, but when you look down in front of the bike you look through the screen. I don't know what tint level it is, ("Dark Smoke") but when I have to look down through it with my sunglasses on, I don't like it... It's hard to see very well as it's too dark.

My problem with some of these types of mods is... I don't want to do it and then not like it. I know I'm OK with it the way it is, so I tend to error on the side of caution and leave it alone. Now like the Red Brembo's. No question... I knew I'd love it, so I just did it. That's just me. Same reason I have yet to get a splitter. I know I like the car without it. Will I really like it better with it?? Hard to say.. LOL

Haha, that must have been a ton of fun

Right, this was my conundrum as well about the plates/tint back in NJ. In the end I didn't mess with a tint and bought a Sto'n'Sho plate holder, keeping it in the trunk most of the time, because I, hm, tended to just forget about it. Told my wife to apply the "doe eyes treatment" in case she gets pulled over

I still have that piece and would happily donate it, but it's not compatible with the splitter on your new 1LE.

I see vehicles all the time with different percent tint on the front side-windows than the rear side-windows. In fact, I've seen Camaros with lighter tint on the door windows than the quarter windows. Any vehicle with 35% on the front side-windows and 20% on the rear side-windows looks less out of place than a factory vehicle with no tint on the front side-windows and 20% on the rear side-windows. Just something to think about, especially if you live in an area that more strictly enforces tint laws.

Ya, I hear what you are saying. Maybe it's just what I'm "used to". Every Crew Cab Truck, SUV, Cross Over, etc... comes with tint on the rear windows but not on the front side-windows. So you just get used to seeing it that way. Or at least I have. But your right, something to think about for sure.

Are you getting those new wheels powder coated? Your car, but my $.02... I think the black wheels look better. I like the style of your new wheels... Again, just my opinion, but ya, your car.
