And every dyno is 100% perfectly accurate and the top concern of every operator is achieving that accuracy (rather than, say making sure its repeatable or heaven forbid ... making an owner feel all warm & fuzzy because his car is a lot more powerful than he thought)

I'd imagine that a shop would want for their base runs to appear lower so that once they mod the car the gains appear that much better.

You would think. But this happens constantly. Lots of them also baseline high and end high after mods. Happy customer the whole time lol
According to what some of the mustang guys saying both these places have historically had numbers about 15 rwhp higher than everyone else with cars they dyno. Not my words. I could care less about dyno numbers. Mine has never been on one. |

Maybe. But then that could turn on them and make them look bad if another shop comes along and busts off a much better time. It'll make the first shop look like they don't know how to drive the car.

I was thinking more on the dyno side of the equation.

Man, these H2H's are going to be great! It's about time we have 2 evenly matched cars to talk about. Been a little boring up to now.
I have to admit, this all seems so weird though. The revised version of the GT seems to be so much faster than the '15-'17. Didnt Ford do something similar between '10 and '11 or something like that? Why does Ford do that? I would be furious if I bought a '15-'17, and then Ford finally decides to release the performer a few years later. Why?

Performance oriented People who bought 2010s before the 5.0 was announced got hosed.
First because of how massive the increase was. Second, if I remember correctly, the late 2010s went for big discounts as ‘11s hit the lot.

Well you gotta remember that the 15-17s served a purpose and still do. That purpose is to get people into a GT for cheap. I have a feeling that since the 18s are getting a price hike we're actually gonna see more 15-17s on the road. I said it before in more of a trash talking fashion but it holds true. That GTs go for dirt cheap and a lot of people were able to scrape money together to get into a base GT. Some dealerships were pushing them off for high $20K range brand new. Used low mileage models were going for low $20K range. For a 1-2 year old GT that is a crazy low price. So I don't think those who are shopping for a GT now will be too upset if they can barely get into a base GT.

What bothers me is that you can't get the PP2 or 1LE packages with an auto transmission. They both would surely be faster equipped as such.

The 1LE, however, is for track rats and track rats want to row gears. Everyone else that want to buy a 1LE for an alternate purpose just has to suck it up.
