No one is saying the Camaro has to have a crap interior but sacrificing performance in order to add more gadgets is missing the point of the Camaro.

And there really isn't any proof that is happening either, so the whole argument is pointless at this time. But I agree, gadgets over performance is not a Camaro idea.

This is exactly why there is a 1SS and a 2SS. You 1SS guys can have your crappy interior with no features. I'll stick with the 2SS.

It doesn't have blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise, driver profiles, and MRC in the SS models. So no it is not exactly current with what is in the GM parts bucket. But if it was discovered engineers axed performance items to make room for these things I would be disappointed. But I really don't see that being an issue. Like someone mentioned that's why there are trim packages and options.

Exactly and why the point made by the guy earlier is meaningless.

Your comment about spending 40k is exactly what I am talking about. If I am going to spend 40k on a Camaro it better have the performance sorted out before cluttering up the dash with aluminum pieces or spring-loaded drink holders or showy LED lighting bits or whatever.("Hey Lance, my car's dash lettering has Arial narrow sans serif font on alcantara inlay with midnight taupe stitching!. Let's do frogurt. I like to pay for lots of pretty sprinkles on that, too."). If Chevy would make an option group for people that want to spring for that stuff (3SS?) that would be great, but they won't. All models will suffer for this cosmetic bloat in the form of higher costs that all buyers will have to absorb. Also, modding the current interior plastic has been a breeze. Mounting alarm components, stereo peripherals, throttle controllers, etc. have been easy in the Gen 5s due to the spartan muscle car interior. My passengers appreciate the muscle car feel as opposed to Chevy trying to go German or Japanese with an interior (and probably coming up noticeably short). They know they're in something unique before I even fire it up. Accessorizing/luxury has its place, but let's hope Chevy (unlike Ford) keeps the focus on power to the pavement and not on "world car" clutter in the cockpit. Keep 'em lean and mean (and affordable). |

This weight news sounds a lot better than the previous "It just won't be any heavier" announcement....
So many were defending that one as the law and trying to explain why the 6th Gen wouldn't or couldn't lose any significant weight.... 200lbs is a good start. |
