Maybe run with lower boost so as not to tax the hyper' pistons, PM rods, and cast caps, among the many other differences. I believe GM should be looking as close to 600 as possible. Some will point to the 'Vette only having 40 horse more, however, I believe ZR1 will be ready for another boost (pun intended) in the next year or so, so... the door's open for Z28, IMVHO.

580 here I'm hoping they look a little farther into the future and put out 600, but there's nothing wrong with 556 either. That's nothing a little simple intake and exhaust can't change, or a little pulley and tune
I think the 575HP sounds about right. The higher the better. Either way I'm planning to get one.

True, but comeon bro, I think it will be obvious that the z/28 will weigh a bit more than the gt-500 (3820lbs). I am hoping for about 600hp, it will need it, Just sayin.

I'm not up on all the differences. Isn't there a platform change in the future for the Z28? Alpha chassis I think I read? If so, is that lighter, heavier or just different?

Platform change is for the Camaro, all models. It is expected to make it a bit lighter, and is anticipated around 2015.

It won't NEED it. Read up on the CTS-V's performance numbers...that formula is no slouch.

No, the Z28 will be on the current Camaro's platform. The Alpha chassis is going to underpin the 6thgen Camaro (maybe)...which should rear its pretty head mid to late decade.

If for 2012 the GT500 gets the TVS blower and goes to or around 600 HP..then look for a reaction out of the 2012 Z/28 (or 2013)
Why doesn't GM make a single engine with higher HP/Torque for the Z28 and CTS-V? Then they can both be the same, just higher.

I just read these things over and over, it's like car porn.

I think I'll have to go for the auto/paddle shifters because the metal knob would get so hot down here in El Paso, and a wooden stick shift would just be confusing.

So What kind of wheel HP are you guys expecting then, > 475 ?

(There is no such thing as too much.)

If we know that and have a good weight we can estimate the quarter mile time.

< 12.5 is my expectation.

I'm pretty sure at this point the hallowed name of Z28 will have a suitable beast under the badge.

sure there is too much. if you can't touch the gas peddle with out spinning the tires. . .that's too much...or you need wider tires. lol

I will say mags will get a 12.3 and actual drivers mid-high 11's.
