Unless it's a very small community like where I'm at it may not be to much of an issue to run one...Small town 50K with a 1/8th track deep in the woods, they would probably let it make as many passes on a test and tune night as they want...But they do hold sanctioned events there on occasion and it would be disqualified...

Demon/Hellcat....Lets just go fast on this out dated chassis and kick everybody in the teeth in a straight line. Let's also use the Demon as a R&D test bed with 3000 units. Then offer the Demon go fast sub components to all current and future Hellcats for a fee. Active chiller system, bigger blower, upgraded fuel system and pcm to run race gas. Upgraded rear end and driveline. And best of all, a transbrake.

Chevy and Ford need to respond if this is indeed the plan.
2NASSTY your car is already in that territory...I would say an average Joe in a Demon would be looking at your tail lights thru the 1/4th...If Chevy doesn't response that doesn't mean that the owner's can't...What if an honest reputable builder produced a system for 800rwhp for the ZL1 and had 10 dedicated owners for purchase and install of said system...What do you think the cost of such a system would run, minus drag radials and skinnies???Do you think a builder could be persuaded to take on a project like this???Do you think 10 members would be willing to invest in the same???

STUNNAH you bring up some good points, but I am doing it the hard way in a Manual at the dragstrip. Thanks though Man. In an Auto I might agree with you. I raced 2 Hellcat's and trapped 137-138 in -2160 DA at the same track this Demon ran in similar conditions. I saw the taillights of both these Hellcats and they were Bolt on Cars trapping the same MPH and higher and weight 300 lbs more. That's when my eyes opened up on the big blower Car.

I just think if the Demon does sell well and Owners actually run it at the dragstrip it Should carry over to the Hellcats and make them even faster.

I am sure GM and Ford will be paying attention to the Demon and hopefully respond with something that isn't a COPO.

Thanks for your response...I did realize that you are driving a M6, I hate the thought of having to be competitive by going auto, even with tap shift, it nothing in comparison to a manual, but technology tends to lean toward those that want everything done for them vs the portion that actually want to learn how to physically make a vehicle perform...I didn't realize that the Hellcat was that stout...I have a friend that has an SRT8 392 and I have driven it and stock it is fast as hell...I also agree with what you think may happen based on the sale of the Demon and believe that it will sale with no problem...Just thinking outside the box...

I believe that most members would agree that this car was purpose built for straight line racing...As a DD it should do well, I imagine like the Hellcat it will come with two fobs, one black for 500hp and the other red for the 840hp, which is similar to how the Hellcats power is optioned...There aren't any tracks in my area even to be tempted to go with a corner carver, so most of the performance vehicles are straight line cars or like Chevy and Ford, multiple tracking vehicles...

Here is the in car vid and time slip against a bolt on Hellcat Charger in -DA at the same track and similar conditions that the Demon ran 9.65 @ 140 mph.

The first time slip on left was against the Hellcat. Look at the sixty foot. Factory suspension 4 door sedan on a DR and factory wheels up front. Compare that slip to the Demon slip (next post) and you will see some similarities.

They race was practically over in the first 60'. These Cars leave that hard and the Charger is actually faster then the Challenger with lower CD after doing some research on the HC forums. Better looking also. Many CTSV V2 owners have gone over to the HC Charger because the V3 has priced themselves out the market and its slow to be honest mod for mod.

Don't get me wrong, I love my ZL1, but the HC is a serious straightline Car.

You are correct. Working on that big time. Ran higher than normal tire pressure on that -DA day. Did not feel good running 12 lbs of air in 40 degree weather on the big end. Sixty foot is now in the 1.6-1.7 range, but it will never be 1.3-1.4 in a manual without a full slick.

Point being, that is what you have to deal with when running a bolt on Hellcat or stock Demon. Crazy when you think about it. 4200-4500 lb cars coming out of the hole like that.

IMO the weight coming out of the hole isn't that bad of a problem* combined with spongey suspension it helps to squad and dig hard. I've seen hellcats ripple the sidewall of NT05Rs (Not really supposed to) on a strip. Yeah nasty cars on the strip for sure.

*weight is obviously always the problem here on planet earth, but I mean it's not as bad as it effects the car in other ways, like in turns and mid range.

So do you think the ZL1's rear suspension is generally setup to stiff???I agree on the squat and dig, same principle dragging motorcycles...

Yeah, I see your point...That's putting a lot of pressure on the driver launching, quick shifting, etc...I hope you can get it figured out...Maybe a sponsor will step up and offer or raffle a set of slicks...Hell that's a good idea, might start a thread see what might get stirred up...
