A no option, 1SS is now listed at 3,908. A 2SS with a sunroof is almost 4,000 pounds. The car gained weight during the generation due to adding content and features. GM did not lie by saying the car lost 200 pounds when compared to the outgoing car.

I've been a lurker here for a while. Traded my 14 Zl1 in on a 15 GTR and plan on buying the latest Zl1 when it hits. I keep hearing about this guy, so I happened to wonder over to the Mustang forums. O......M......G. Haha, is that guy for real? No way he believes what comes out of his mouth.

Those numbers are amazing. A little jelly, but congrats to those who will purchase. GM came through indeed. While I love my 5.0, I'm starting to think this is 2010/2011 all over again for the GT lol.

It is always a back and forth thing between Mustang and Camaro. It only makes the product better.

Completely agree. Crazy times when the slower v8 only has 435hp. Every one wins with the back and forths.

Exactly. Whats even crazier is that the base cars would murder the best cars on the road 25 years ago.

Weight went from 3860 to 3908 for 2ss manual after 2013.

Base 2ss auto curb weight for the 15 is 394x.
Even right at 3800 flat if the car has sunroof and MRC that's still just probably making it.
If the 2ss is 3760-3780 with extra options such as MRC and sunroof that adds about 50 lbs.

They hit the mark base to base.

Someone needs to weigh a 2ss auto with standard suspension and no MRC.
Given the c&d 2ss auto at 3760 had sunroof and MRC I'm confident it will come down at least another 15-20 lbs to hit the mark. Probably even more.

That's a 54lb difference between two "official" weights of the same car.

I'm curious how that is going to pan out. Obviously someone is wrong or is lying..but who is it?
That one is easy. GM trades manufacturer plates all the times between cars. I had asked a question about it a long time ago when we saw different dates on plates trying to figure out if one mule was newer than the other. Plate this week could be on a 1SS, next week on a 2LT.

So the 2SS weights almost the same as the 5th gen? Someone explain to me how a extra 30hp and some weight reduction equals to 0-60 in 4 seconds vs 4.8 seconds. Better trans maybe and technology?

Hopefully I don't sound negative, I love the sixth gen and think Chevy did a great thing.
No...just no. The 2015 Camaro 1SS starts over 3,900 pounds, and a loaded up 2SS with options will push into the mid to high 3,9xx range for sure. Go check out the numbers for yourself on the Chevrolet website.

4,508 (GVWR)..."Minus"....723 (Max Passenger and Cargo Weight)...."Equals"....3,785 Curb Weight....

I commented on this same subject on another thread. Basically my comment was, I VERY highly doubt that GM is printing GVWR sticker for each trim, engine, and option configuration. Of course the different trim/engines will have different GVWR stickers, but when you add in a sunroof, and things such as that, I can't see that being included.

All I'm saying is, is while these figures of GVWR minus maximum occupancy weight may be close, they likely aren't perfect. Likely within 50-ish pounds of the real weight???

Take away MRC and sunroof and that will gain you the 15 - 20 easily. Likely more.

KMP....

I really don't know how accurate that little formula is....All I know is I looked everywhere on the car, manual, glove box, other stickers, etc., nowhere is the "Curb Weight" shown on the car....I did see somewhere that GVWR includes gas, fluids, etc., everything that is stated to be in curb weight....So minus the passengers and cargo, I think it's pretty accurate and possibly unique for each car....Only other number is what is on the GM website, but it doesn't seem to be tailored for each car as the GVWR may be....

Only way to know for sure is to compare sticker numbers from a wide variety of similar models with different combos of options....

My 2011 2SS for example....4680 GVWR - 732 Passengers and Cargo = 3948 "Curb weight"...????...Sounds good to me!...lol...

It's really not accurate.. Maybe close in this situation though..

My Mustang is listed at 4,600 for GVWR and Max capacity is 700.. 2013 Mustang GT weighs nowhere close to 3,900 pounds.

3,785.. But it does sound like it could be the worst case weight for the SS..
