I saw it on the news, so we can only hope. Report said that it'd save a good chunk of change and unless the cops saw something VERY wrong with the idea, that it would go forward. Being that other states somehow survive, it can't be that crucial.

I sent several letters to the Gov's office asking for this action as I hope you all did.I also made it clear I had no problem voting for someone else this year

I doubt that the law inforcement will go along with removing the plate. It's their main target when they use their radar/laser guns.

Just got a $124.00 ticket yesterday for no front plate, after driving with out it for over a year now. The cop also tested my window tint and gave me a $124.00 ticket for that. $248.00 later, and a missed ferry boat I was on my way. I was not speeding, ticket was only for those 2 things. My tint was done in Arizona, they put 30% side doors, and 15% back window. He said new WA state law is 24%, so my side windows are fine, but the back window needs to be replaced, so here is a ticket.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what to do to drop the tint ticket, but the plate ticket he said I have to bring a Pic of the car with a front plate on it to court and it will be dropped.

Freaking hassle.

I drove my 04 Pontiac Grand Prix for over 7 years here in Oregon w/o a front plate. Never stopped once. In Oregon, police Ive asked said they usually only add the 'no license' ticket if they stop you for some other infraction. So drive carefully! No license on the front of my 2011 Camaro. Hopefully I can make it another 7 years. I do carry it in the trunk with all the mounting stuff. If I do get stopped maybe it will help earn just a warning.

On a new website, Governor Christine Gregoire asked for ideas on how to balance the state budget. More than 1,900 people responded and one of the most popular ideas was one that would get rid of the license plate law that makes you but a new plate every seven years. The governor’s reaction was apparent. On a Washington State Government YouTube website she responded in a video.

“It’s an idea worth looking into further,” she says in the video. “I’ve asked our agencies to see if we still need to replace plates as frequently. Another suggestion is to get rid of front license plates.”

Twenty other states don’t require front plates. The governor estimates requiring cars and trucks in our state to have only a back plate could save Washington nearly $2 million.

We need to recommend to her that eliminating the front license plate is the way to go. Click on the following link and make your feelings known so she can see there is substantial support for this initiative. Now is the time. They apparently are listening. Here is the link. http://transformwabudget.ideascale.com

Well, I just put mine on to take to court with me. The cop said if I come to court and show them I have it on, they will drop the ticket. So I zip tied it. Screw drilling holes.
