Exactly I completely agree. That is why I buy, Giving extra money to the banks (interest) Is what I try to avoid. Obviously on a house it is kind of unavoidable.

The SS 1LE is everything I look for in a car. My plan is at least 5 years.

Unless something comes along in the future with the performance, complete package (ie, brakes, wheels, tires, suspension, chassis, etc.), and value , I do not see me parting very easily with the SS 1LE.

I have had over 20 cars. typically cycling them every 2 years or so and I will tell you the SS 1LE when taken as a whole and at its price point is in my top 3 of all the cars I have had. The Audi TTRS and C5 Z06 are the other two in the top 3.

I tried to get everything I wanted from the M3 twice now, and both times felt cheated for the price.

About the only current car (that isn't totally insane price wise) I would leave the SS 1LE for would be a Porsche GT4, and that is really out of my range right now.

I sometimes think of upgrading to the ZL1 1LE, but the DSSV suspension makes that a no-go as a daily driver.

Maybe an Audi TTRS, but by the time I am ready to get another new car, I think the TT will be discontinued.

I plan on it for as long as I could. Wife doesn't want me to get rid of it either even if we have kids soon so hopefully it stays that way. Only thing that will make me give it away is if a family member is willing to buy it and I give my self an excuse to buy a newer model.

I still remember sitting in my first Camaro at 17 years old. The year was 1979 and it was a 1967 base Camaro convertible. I paid $400 for it. It had damage or rust on every panel but the passenger door. The 250 cubic inch straight six had 150,000 miles on it and that and the 2 speed tranny ran great. After getting it in the driveway, I sat behind the wheel feeling exhilaration. I literally bled and sweat to get it right, and it was eventually in two parades. I still maintain that I would have taken my $400 67 over a 79 new Camaro if you gave it to me.
Later, I had a 69 SS vert that I also cherished.
Now at 57 years old, 40 years later I have a Camaro that makes me smile like that first day in my first car at 17.
I grin every time I start it. I laugh out loud almost every time I drive it. Like my first one, I literally bled and sweat to earn it.
Never say never, but I don’t know a reason to get rid of it.
It is really something special.

thats what we did.kind of freaked the salesman out when i came in to car shop in my favorite beach bum attire and then wrote him a check for the total amount of the car,but he remembers me when he sees me even after 3 years.i go to my dealer for oil changes because that way theres a record that they were done on time and no doubts about the correct oil/filter being used in case of warranty work needing to be done.

Same here.... In my younger days i was engaged to a girl who was deep into the credit hole.... i helped her out and we both got smarter about being responsible with credit. Yes it's necessary to have a good credit rating but personally i just hate owing money. If i cannot afford to pay cash for my toys i just wait until i can and I sleep better at night for it.

I'm with you on this. Maybe I should have chosen an easier car to get in and out of as I 'age'.

Definitely plan on keeping her for a while, depends on how she holds up long term.
Have you guys tried the auto exit position recall? You move the seat back and as high as you can tolerate, then save this position to the 3rd (exit) seat memory button, and activate the auto recall in the settings. Might help some in getting in and out of the car.

Until now I have kept all my cars and trucks until they are all worn out and repairs become not worth the value of the car. That being said, plan on keeping the Camaro many years right now.

My favorite post yet! Thank you so much for sharing. It’s amazing how special a car like this can make you feel.

The Easy exit function is turned on or off in the settings menu under comfort and convience...... if you dont have memory seats you dont have it.

I like it... makes getting in and out so much easier and i'm sure it's going to save seat side bolster from excessive wear..... Just push the start button and the seat slides into the driver preset while the computers are firing and i'm buckling the seatbelt. on exit the seat doesnt start moving until you open the door so there is a short delay while the seat moves back .
