I know this has "NEWBIE" all over it! But here goes!

Does it make ZERO sense to change out a stock throttle body with one like this:

https://www.solerengineering.com/gen...ors/se8223-080

Or would the performance gain be minimal. Also what is the best bag for the first mods to increase HP vs tearing down the motor and starting to build a new/major upgraded one.

My reference would be to where the car doesn't need taken to a dyno every time a "mod" is made, so basically mods that will fit with in the parameters of the stock tune? I have the HPTuners MPVI3 and the 2 licenses my 2023 ZL1 requires. I just don't know where the logging would be done on the open road and then what needs tuned there after. I'm an IT guy by trade and really want to learn this stuff but have no access to a dyno for testing/logging.

So, I did go with a 100mm TB, adapter plate, slightly larger intake coupling/boot, and a Throttle Control module from Soler. The Mike and everyone else there were very helpful and took a lot of time making sure my goals were going to be met. Explained the pro's and con's of my decision and the limitations I might encounter add these particular mods without doing other work! Basically the limitations of the performance vs maximum gain etc. But, I will get a good level of noticeable increased performance, so we'll see. Once everything arrives I'll update my thread! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone !

I doubt you'll gain anything from the TB without opening up the blower snout however, the throttle controller is a great little device. I use one myself.

What does that actually do?
I also read the LT5 throttlebody bolts on and needs no tuning and adds about 5-10 rwhp with the right cold air kit.

I do want to get a base line of my RWHP prior to doing any of these mods. In fact, I'd reinstall the stock air intake to do so. I just have to find a local shop that I can have it put on a Dyno to baselined. As far as I know it let more air come into the system and with less turbulence, delivering smoother power. I will eventually get the supercharger sent to Kong for port/polish, or replace it all together.

Throttle controller is best explained like adjusting the sensitivity of the mouse on your computer. It works exactly the same way. If you want the gas pedal to be more responsive without having to push it as far, then you increase the throttle controller setting and vice versa.

Debatable on the on the LT5 TB, same could be said for a Rototfab intake on a stock car and some people have seen no increase. Either way, on a 650hp vehicle, you will absolutely not notice an additional 5-10hp even if it was there.

Replaced the stock Coolant Overflow reservoir on my ZL1. I personally think it looks a million times better than stock! I also think that with it being one full chamber it should work better then how the stock one is designed. But I have ZERO clue on that statement. Also, received the Soler Engineering 100mm TB, adapter plate, boot and throttle control module. I have a E2-X Catch Can on the way. So, I'll wait to install the new TB after I install the catch can.

Today I installed the Elite Engineering E2-X 3-port Catch Can and the Soler 100mm throttle body, adapter and the new larger intake boot. I had to make my own bracket to mount the catch can. This was so the top of the 90 degree ports didn't hit the rain diverter under the front of the hood cutout when I closed the hood. While I has the SC lid off, I decided to remove the additional extra metal/plate on the lid that's above the rotors. If you notice, I didn't cut my stock hose at the break line booster connection where a "T" is required. I purchased a "T" adapter that works like all the stock connections from John, a youtuber, his channel is "garageking". Also, I had to notch the Carbon Fiber air intake where inserts into the intake boot. I used my Dremel tool to cut a 3/8 wide notch, so it would slide past the hose barb when inserted into the intake boot. Went for a test drive and NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT !

If you replaced the factory coolant reservoir/surge tank with a single tank, I think you'll have issues as you've removed the surge capability of the cooling system.

Crazy timing... I literally just watched a YouTube video on a 6th Gen that the guy was mod'ing. He actually explained exactly what you just commented on. He said from what he knew, it was't a good idea to replace the stock coolant expansion tank. This stuff kills me! Like why would a company not make sure a replacement product they make still does the job required by the stock part! I'm going to email Mishimoto and them directly if it is not advisable to replace with their item. Thanks!

65ffr: So this is what Summit Racing sent me back regarding my inquiry regarding the function of the Mishimoto coolant expansion tank as compared to the function of the stock tank. "From Mishimoto website for this item: This tank, like the stock tank, actually comprises two separate compartments that serve as both pressurized expansion and overflow tanks. Made entirely of aluminum, the Mishimoto tank features fully-welded construction for maximum durability. The tank also includes a built-in sight glass and sight tube to make checking coolant levels a breeze." So I take that as it does provide means for the "surge", unless I'm not reading it correctly.

In fact, it took me more time to go buy the garage heater than doing the project! the YouTube video linked above was extremely spot on and helped me a ton! I will figure out how I want to customize the primary vs secondary once I do a bit more research on best use etc. Thanks again willzilla
Awesome! No problem! Looks great! Sorry for the late reply.. No clue why I never see notifications on this forum, haha.
