I get that. I hate that they only update Durango too. But materials they use are fine. Unless you want to compare the cheapest cloth seat option in base hellcat. Yuck.

It's the styling of the car, the performance, the handling, the way that rear end just flares out and commands your attention. It has a menacing touch guy front end. For me, the only Ford I'd every buy is an F-150 and the only Chevy I'll buy is the Camaro. For Dodge, nothing in their line up interests me.

I've had 3 camaros in the past, 89 RS with a 350 swap, 95 z28 convertible, and a 99 SS. I bought my Miata on a whim a year ago and while its a blast to drive, as an only car its horribly impractical and very uncomfortable on long drive. TBH i am not a huge fan of the front of the 2019+ 6th gens, however, i still ordered one and i can't wait to get it. I ordered a 2SS 1LE and it was built earlier this week. After having the Miata i came to really appreciate a good handling car so i opted for the 1LE. I test drove a mustang but the Getrag gearbox was trash and to upgrade to a Tremec meant getting up to the Mach 1 which is significantly more expensive than even a fully loaded 2ss 1le. I also get the employee discount (thanks gramps) which saved me a ton of money on my car.

July, 2016. While I wanted a domestic sports coupe, I'm not a fanboy of any particular brand to the degree I would have ruled out the others based on brand.
The Challenger was last of my leanings. I sort of like it, it has its strong points, but having gotten the chance to drive one I found it just too big and ponderous for my taste. Plus, at least around where I live, too many idiots drive them. It then basically between the Mustang and Camaro then. I first went to the Ford dealership and had my eye on an Ecoboost premium. I had already gotten a chance to really wring one out months prior and was very impressed with the handling and progressive power of the engine, but they gave me an insultingly low offer for my trade-in and I said the hell with it. Went up the road to a Chevrolet store and drove a mosaic black turbo 4 Camaro and liked it, a lot. When walking back to the building, intent on buying after the test drive I spotted a nightfall gray Camaro. It was a V6 auto car, and I said that's the one. Bought it right then. Days, weeks later I knew I made the right choice. Yeah the V6 lacked low end torque but was an absolute screamer under hard acceleration, and the handling was fantastic, noticeably better than the Mustang, which was no slouch. Toss-able. Fast forward 2 years and I came upon a chance to get a new '18 SS 6-speed, with the NPP exhaust, for a price I couldn't refuse, and in nightfall gray no less. I pulled the trigger, I loved everything about the whole driving experience. The honeymoon continues to this day... |

My opinion is it was the best driving of the three. Would have preferred a 4 door hellcat but was too expensive for my blood.

I would argue that if you have to be careful about how you drive it, then it's not as stout an engine as it needs to be. The Chevy small block has always had great serviceability at any RPM range.

For me the "competition" literally was the M2 Competition. The SS 1LE was not even on my radar. A friend of mine got my attention towards the American cars and after not being able to find an M2 Comp for a reasonable price after 6 months of looking I checked out the Camaro. I think the first time I saw it at all was an episode of Throttle House on youtube. I kept looking more and more into it and eventually saw the light.
Better track car for less $, it was a no brainer. |

Conversation: What made you choose Camaro over the competition?
Had a bad experience with a Ford car about 25 years ago. Bad experience with the car, dealership, and with Ford the company. Will never buy another Ford or step on a Ford dealership lot again. Ever.
I owned an ‘84 Z28 5 speed with T-tops and loved it. I have always loved the way the Camaros looked. I wanted to buy one in 2004 but there weren’t making them any more so I wound up buying a 2004 supercharged Monte Carlo. The Charger/Challenger looks nice but to me it doesn’t have the pop or styling that the Camaro has. I just like the looks of the Camaro better than the other two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My buddy got me into the idea of getting a car to drive on track. I had driven his 2014 Mustang at VIR twice and started off with the intent of buying a new 2021 GT PP1. But as I started looking at what you got for the money, and then hearing about the overheating problems due to lack of coolers, it just wasn't making sense. Around that same time, I heard mention of the Camaro SS 1LE as a better alternative. Did my research and concluded it was a considerably better track car for less money than a Mustang.
The only question was how bad was the outward visibility (livable or not)? Test drove an SS and after 5 minutes was convinced that the visibility problem is way overhyped. The rest is history. Have been a happy owner going on 1 yr now. Oh, and the comment about you sitting on top of the mustang but IN the Camaro is totally true. One time went out on track with my buddy driving and me riding shotgun; I couldn't believe how much I was thrown around the car. Center of gravity is too high and the GT seats do not hold you in place like the Camaro's Recaros do. |

I personally love the 15-17 mustang better than new ones and 6th Gen Camaro. I had a 2017 GT vert I bought on a whim absolutely loved it.
Got wrecked and olny thing I regretted owning it was it wasn’t a manual. GT vert manual was almost impossible to find on West coast at the time. I thought about a vert Camaro SD but looking at one I didn’t like the lines of it. I love all cars and grew Up on JDM and looked into a Q60 Redsport. While there they had a White 18SS Iwith RedKatzskin leather I had seen on Car Gurus. The guy tells me he loves it and it’s Supercharged. I go check it out and it had 20”. ZL1 1LE reps on it lowered on eibachs. Full BMR sway bars and end links. AWE touring cat back Top it off it was ProCharged with D1SC with upgraded cooling. The builder had put a sticker of his business underhood. I had him check the car out and he let me know the car had about 20k in upgrades and the ProCharger was in great shape. I told him the price and he said to go straight back and buy it. I did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

lt1 some day
started off with dodge chargers. had a chrysler 300. then a scat pack charger that was garaged and only taken out on sundays. flipped the car for profit during the car shortage. i love all the muscle cars from the big three. camaro always seemed the classiest and that interior in an 2SS is to die for. they were always very expensive and when the chance came to get an LT1 one was ordered. didnt know that would be such a cluster. been waiting since feb 1st but its almost here...cant wait

I've been fortunate enough to get Chargers, Challengers, Mustangs, and even a few Jaguars (anyone cross-shop with an F Type R?) at rental counters. Never got the chance to drive a Camaro.
Once I drove the F Type R, I knew I was a "convertible guy" when the time came to get my own "nice car". Dodge was out on that count... It had to be a v8, and it had to be a manual. All I read about camaro verts were how great their handling was, how nice the gearbox is, and how superior they were as a driver's car, if not a "grand tourer". All I read about the mustang were very polarized opinions on the 6MT, and that everything was just a bit looser. I found a 2SS vert en route to a dealer, had a completely professional dealership experience, and a few weeks later I drove her home
