They're nice to have, but as said, the positioning is awful. If I had the motivation to do so I'd take that panel out, and make some sort of custom panel where the radio is.

But I don't, so I won't

Anyone who drives a ZL1 and is looking at the boost gage while under hard boost is crazy.....

No way would I be looking down while WOT in my ZL1.

I use Dashlogic to put the boost reading up in the HUD.

I check gauges before I move the vehicle or when stopped and running. Either in the morning after a cold start, at every stop light, and just before I shut it off. I like to see that things are where they should be. If I needed to monitor something while driving (boost, AFR, Fuel Pressure, etc), I'd get the info up into my pillar or dash area.

I agree with this 100 percent, I like the guage pack and it gives the car a different look than all the other cars on the road, but it's very beneficial having boost and afr in the hud with dashlogic

No need to pay to have it removed, simple task ... lift straight up on the back facing part of the silver trim and the clips will release. Then working forward pull up on the side edges of the silver trim. The front facing edge is held in by a 2 plastic horizontal pins, last step is to slide the assembly back slightly to disengage the pins. And then there is one quick disconnect plug on the harness for gauges, power outlet, and stability control switch. Leisure pace it takes about 3 minutes.

Here is pic of underside (borrowed from forum) 5 white clips shown in right half of this pic, sixth clip is missing), the two horizontal pins are on far left running off the picture.

And here is a video from Phastek that shows the connectors:

Here is one that shows steps in detail and complete disassembly once out of car.

The replacement piece sliver trim with the coin tray you probably could get for free from someone that took that out to install the gauge pack.

Seems like they should have put them closer to the dash, or even along the pillar. I'd rather have that space behind the shifter open to store sunglasses and such, like it is on the 1LT.
As already been stated many times, these gauges, as are many of the styling cues, are a throw back to the 1st Gen, especially the '68-'69 cars. My first Camaro was 1969 COPO 427 in 1974 and I've been a Camaro/Firebird owner continuously ever since. So, for me it was one of many things that made a 5th Gen a must have. Yes, they are not in an ideal location for easy viewing. But having gauges in your line of sight is not nearly as important in modern cars as it was back in the day. Actually there's no need to monitor them constantly at all. If any parameters get out of tolerance, you will get a chime and a Driver Information Center message and you can check the gauges then. Actually, that's how they get away with building some models without them.

I can see them perfectly fine.
I don't know where you get that. The My Link absolutely hangs down lower and blocks the gauges. That's one of the reasons that I couldn't understand all the rush to upgrade to My Link. It's nice, but you have to give up your CD player and you block your gauges. That might be a good trade off for some people, but it's certainly not for me.
I have friend who was looking for a 5th Gen last year and he asked me for advice. I told him to get a '12 because they had a lot of improvements over the '10s and '11s and no My Link. He wanted to know what the problem with My Link was and I told him that there was no CD player and it blocks your gauges. He took my advice and bought a '12.
He, in turn, talked one of his buddies into a 5th Gen. His buddy bought a new '15 2SS w/My Link. The last time I talked to him he told that he'd gotten the opportunity to drive the '15 and he was so glad he'd talked to me and bought a '12, because he couldn't see the gauges in the '15.

I emailed Chevy to ask if removing it would void my warranty. As I half-expected, I didn't get an answer. They said I have to take it to a Chevy dealership and have it looked at by a mechanic. I called the number below and got the same answer. She said that they have to check the vehicle and make sure there's nothing else defective that might cause an issue with removing the gauges, which makes sense if they want to be sure they're covered. I'm due for an oil change, so I'll just ask about it when I get that done. If the dealership wants to charge extra to give me an answer, I'll just remove it and hope an issue never comes up, or see if they do it for a fee so it will be on paper that it was removed by certified a Chevy mechanic.

I don't know why you would do this. The gauges are a plug-n-play option on the cars that didn't come with them, so they would an unplug-n-play option on the cars that did come with them. If you remove them and replace them with the shifter bezel/tray assembly from a 1SS, no dealer tech would even notice. It would take real Camaro enthusiast to even notice that you had a 2SS without gauges.
