The guy wanted a real ZL1 to start with, and could afford it, so he could drive a registered original ZL1. Sure, it would have been cheaper to start with a body in white but that wasn't the goal. Larry Larson likes to use real street car in his builds. Not much ZL1 left but they can still claim to have the quickest ZL1 in the world.

With a build of this caliber and cost, the difference betwwen a 55k ZL1 and a 20k V6 is moot.

That car is just nasty! I can only dream. Would love to tub mine like that though and roll around on the streets.
